My 22 2500 came with the 18" raised white letter Firestone Transforce tires on it. I'm thinking about pulling them and installing my tried and true Michelin's. My question is for folks that have done this, will the OEM tires be easy to sell? They only have 1000 miles on them right now. What is a fair price to ask for them?

I had the Transforce AT on my 2021 2500 too. Took them off at 3000 miles because they were absolutely useless in mud or snow. Decent pavement and gravel road tire, terrible off road. I could not sell mine for even $400 and I tired Facebook, Kijiji etc. Half used up Duratracks sell easily for $800, ZERO interest in the Firestones. If you can get a credit at the tire shop where you buy the new ones, I would go that way. Ended up giving them to a young guy I know for his 3500 Ram Diesel highway pickup, only used in the summer, that he pulls a large horse trailer with.

I sold my transforce with 1k on them for $600. It took about 2 months. Seems like everyone thinks since you took off factory tires you don't need the money and low ball you. I've almost given up on selling things on Facebook or Craigslist people just tick me off now.

Any factory tire that has come on a new vehicle I've had has been complete junk. The Goodyear SRAs that came on my truck were downright dangerous in the rain and the Michelin Premier LTXs that came on the wife 2017&2020 Jeep GC weren't much better. I'm sure its the same with the Firestone Transforce.

From what I've read the tires that come on a vehicle from the factory are different that what you buy at a tire shop. They are mass produced specifically for vehicle manufacturers to be cheaper and make it to the 1 year/12k mile warranty most manufactures offer on tires. After that they don't care because its not their problem.

The guy that bought mine was actually from the east coast. He was a hotshot drive and has been running the transforce AT tire for awhile. He is getting 50k out or them and he said he just buys them as people take them off lol. He said on road towing they were a great tire.

He is right about that. For a pavement tire they work great unless you get snow. Anything else on pavement they are actually a very good tire. Just don't take them off road because they suck the Big Megilla Gorrila in bad country.

Yep I had mine in wet grass when I first got my truck. Felt like greased owl poop lol, and I am off-road a fair bit. He said state side DOT liked to see hotshot drivers in all terrain tire. The transforce are AT tire but not aggressive at all and great fuel economy.

Thanks guys. Have an appt to pull them off next week. Hopefully someone will want them. Lots of cheap rednecks in these parts, so I'm hoping they will move quickly.

The OEM Firestone's didn't last a day on FB marketplace. Put the ad in for them at 8pm or so last night at $500. I had 10 responses wanting them the next morning and several more came in after that. Got full asking before noon. Maybe I didn't ask enough, but I'm happy with what I got and how quickly they sold.

Installed Michelin LTX AT2's. Watched them torque the lugnuts, and asked what spec they used (130lb ft). I rechecked when I got home and 11 of the lugs were not up to spec. None were falling off loose, but some took near 1/2 turn with my Matco 1/2" torque wrench. Glad I checked.

I am absolutely amazed you had that amount of interest. I started at 900 and worked down to 400. In 3 months I never got a single enquiry. Glad it worked out good for you.

Selling used tires is always difficult for putting a price on them. Although they may have low mileage on them, in good condition...they are only worth what people are willing to spend. The advantage of selling for a good deal to them, lets you not have to store them and put up with weeks or months of emails. What ever you get for them, even if it only covers one or two of the new tires and or balance and install of the new ones...that is some of the cost you save. I have always checked torques myself too, pneumatic guns with torque extensions on them are not always accurate.

I've sold multiple sets of them for around $400 for just the tires. Some people surprisingly like them. When the wheels are included I've gotten around $1000-$1200.

I think is has a lot to do where you live. I live close to Portland Oregon lots of wasteful people. Most people I know don't shop for deals anymore and just but new. It took me 6 months to sell my tires. the wheels I gave up on and just gave to my buddy when I got new ones.

There is some good pricing at Discount Tires right now on Michelins. So that $500 covered 40% of the out the door total. I'm good with that.

They actually used a torque wrench to finish, not a rattle gun. I think it's needs to be calibrated.

Our RAM came with the 20" Wrangler SRA and they are the biggest junk I have ever seen. And driven. I had to replace them no matter if they sold or not. Much to my surprise, a neighbor bought them.... 3 days later. So do what you got to do and then put them up for sale.

Spot on. The Firestone ATs just didn't work off road and my pickups spend 70% of their time offroad. The damage I could have done using them would have been 10X the cost of new tires.

Generally Factory Tires are put on new vehicles for 2 things
Fuel Mileage & Quietness

When i bought my 2016 Ram, i traded Discount Tire the factory tires towards some Michelins

I have the F Transforce. Some people like them. I am just going to drive on them and see how they do. So far no problems.

where i am you see takeoffs for around $2500.00 for the wheel/tire combo.i don't know who in their right mind would actually pay that.i tried for a while to find a set of oem rims but nobody will separate the set.even for a winter set it's waaay cheaper to buy aftermarket.after 8 trucks,i've yet to get an oem set of tires i was actually happy with.my powerwagon duratracs are my winter set and i drive in 4hi so i can kill them asafp.i just did a trip to the west coast of Vancouver island and back and i swear every single tire is out of balance.i have under 20k kilometers on them.god i hate them.i'd actually trade them for a set of firestones.
