So just picked up a used 2014 Ram 1500 express with a 5.7. Have experience with Dodge vehicles (2006 Durango Limited 5.7, 2013 Durango RT 5.7) so have some knowledge.
My current concern is the fan noise. When driving my Ram, whether cold or at operating temp, my fan seems to be constantly engaged (constant fan roar). Admittedly, I have not, as of yet, remover the fan shroud to verify the electric fans integrity. Is the excessive fan noise the norm? Should I move forward with verifying the electric fans operation? I know it sounds kinda silly, but I really don't want to have to remove the upper radiator hose to access the shroud as I don't have access to a lift. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The 5.7 doesn't use an electric fan on the 1500, it's a clutch fan off the crank. Possible the fan clutch is seized up. It should spin freely with the engine off. If it doesn't then there's your answer.

Actually, it has both an electric a/c condenser fan and the mechanical clutch fan

Sounds like the clutch fan is staying engaged, it should spin fairly easily when the engine is cold . When it get to operating temperature the resistance should increase substantially.
It will almost free spin when cold , if not it s probably time to r replace.

my 2020 does that too, but only mostly during the summer to help when i use the a/c. I'm sure it works off some temperature sensor somewhere.

Thanks everybody! It does have a sizeable electric fan between the radiator and clutch fan, just assumed it to be part of the cooling system(my '13 durango has an electric but no clutch fan and my '06 only had clutch fan). Guess its time to dive in lol!

Not sure if it's something you're interested in, but figured I'd just throw it out there. Quite a few folks have done the clutch fan delete and replaced the electric fan with one out of a v-6. There's youtube videos and plenty of posts on here talking about it.

You forgot to add,the truck should also be tuned,to reset the electric fans On/Off parameters,if you're pulling the mechanical fan.
I'd also try running with just the factory electric fan, before springing for the aftermarket V6 fan,as you can't really get the factory V6 fan anymore, and the aftermarket V6 fans like the Dorman or TYC fans don't have a great rep for lasting very long.
Some guys have took the motor out of their original fan,and made it work in the aftermarket fans.
I've never had an overheating issue using just the factory A/C fan,and an old member on here Gary used to tow fairly often in Tennesse and he never had any overheating issues with just the factory A/C fan,so before spending money on a questionable aftermarket fan,try the factory fan first, you can always spring for the V6 fan if the factory fan turns out to not be sufficient, but at least try the stock fan first, and go from there

Just so you know, the electric fan will run continuously when you have the HVAC set to Max AC.

The first order of business might be to verify that the engine temperature is satisfactory and that the excessive fan noise isn't the result of your truck trying to recover the correct operating temperature.

You should be able to observe the high & low coolant temps as the coolant thermostat opens and closes.

Then, establish which fan is disturbing your tranquillity, the mechanical clutch fan or the electric fan.

Update; I was driving home this evening, thought I would tour the EVIC and it struck me that the OP may not have access to the coolant temps in a digital format on the 2014.

So, if your truck has the feature, you can watch the temps while the thermostat cycles.
