Finally ordered new wheels from Mr Wheel Deal. Didn't order their TPMS with hopes of reusing the stock ones. They keep emailing me that I should really consider new ones. Should I get new ones or not?

I ordered the tpms with my wheels because if you don’t they put standard valve stems in the wheels. Your stock tpms sensors won’t work with your new wheels unless you buy tpms ready valve stems from somewhere to put in the new wheels.

Also, if your tpms are older, might as well get new ones. Do it once, do it right.

I would also go for new TPMS as it would suck and cost more $$$ if there were an issue with one of the old ones.
You would have to pay to have the tire taken back off and then put back on.
TPMS sensors are relatively inexpensive to do while you have the tires off.

At minimum, you would need new tpms valve stems to attach the sensors to. The odds of getting the old stems out of the old wheels without tearing them are slim. Even realize f you did get them out, d be super paranoid about leaks. I'm not sure what the average life expectancy of the sensor battery is, (probably 5-7 years) but if they're already 3-4 years old, they're probably half dead. If one dies down the road, you need to dismount the tire, replace the sensor and remount and balance the tire. Plus the time and aggravation of having to do get it done. I finally got new rims and oversized tires on my 12 back in October. New sensors was a no brainer.

Ok I'm sold on the new ones. Mr Wheel Deal says they will be programmed for my vehicle. Mr Tire was worried they might not be able to program them.

I already have a new set of "factory" TPMS that I was going to use on my new RBP wheels. However, the folks at SD Wheel are telling me that these won't work because of the offset of the new wheels and the thickness of the "E" load range tires. They are trying to sell me a set for $179, but I think that is a bit overpriced (especially if they are the same ones as my new factory ones). Are there "special" TPMS made to compensate for the higher negative offsets (mine are only -12) along with the thicker sidewalls on the E load range tires?

Well the thicker sidewall part is BS as all the HD trucks and some of the 1500s(mine is one of them) come with Load E from the factory.

another check for the BS column, offset is in millimeters. I think the factory rims are somewhere around -19, so worse case scenario going to a 0 offset is less than inch change?
Go find another tire shop that isn't so full of bull$hit!

I have had no issues using my stock tpms sensors with my 20x12 -44 wheels and 35s

I ordered up the new TPMS units when I put the order in for new wheels, 22" x 10" Hellcat replica's. They even offered a "blacked out" valve stem option which I thought worked well with the wheels. Glad I did the new units as my stock wheels are for winter use only now...or as a spare set if need be.

One other comment when it comes to new wheels/tire packages.

Be sure you read up on the tires you install. Some are uni-directional (designed to roll in one direction when mounted to your wheels, based on the tread pattern) I went with Yokahama Prada Spec X tires which are just that...uni-directional. Sad to say but when my new wheel n tires arrived all pre-mounted and balanced only two were correctly mounted for this directional requirement.

I had to have two broken down and turned around and remounted (I'm rather **** that way) ...nerve racking to say the least. The local Discount Tire did not/do not offer any insurance that they will not trash your wheels during the process, which is rather interesting, seeing as how tires and wheels is sort of there main gig right?

The young tech was sweating bullets as he worked (so was I). Happy to say it all worked out in the end but.... It's best not to go to this place. So....read up on your install package....make sure the tire tech know his ****....and get it done right the first time. Btw,..my vendor was very sorry and cut me a break on some other items due to the mix up..so kudo's to them.

T.
