Fixing Dented Tool Chest

I couldn’t pass this deal up!!!
This 2 piece set is regular $2500 on sale for $1100. I was chatting with the manager and he said one came back damaged today... we went to the back and it has a corner of the lid with a small dent and the top side was a little caved in, which seemed to prevent top couple of drawers on that side to open.

I said if I buy the bottom section for the sale price could I have the top for free? He spoke to the GM and they said I could have it all for $275. The bottom section is flawless but they need to sell as a set YEAH!!!

now I’m looking for tips to get it working properly.

We picked up this brute today. Now I have lots of cleaning to do in the garage.

Looks great with my wheels on the wall.

The dents on top of the lid tapped out pretty easily. There is one dent by the lock that seems to be effedring the function of the lock. when I put the key in the lower cabinet and turn it clicks smoothly and works like a charm. The lock on the top lid does not seem to want to turn. I honestly don’t care if the lock works or not, it would be nice to just get these drawers unlocked.

Take a blunt punch and hammer to the damaged area from behind. Work out that dent and voila, the lock should work.

The 3 Drawers that were stuck closed just needed to be gently pried open then they kind of pressed down into place and now they all seem to be working. I think the lock is pooched but I don’t could care less about that.
I guess that wraps up my story on this and this. close as I’ve ever come to winning something! 90% off
