I think I may have found something related to the flashing P after changing out my 3.5 EVIC for a 7. Quick background, I found a 2016 EcoD EVIC on Ebay for a decent price. From the first time I plugged it in the P flashes while in park and all other indicators work normally. I have also previously installed the 8.4 with full 7 speed setup from Mike and Benny. I played around with single zone ATC but changed it back to SZ-MTC before I decided to get the cluster. Got the mileage adjusted by @Ramit2016 and everything works great but the P still taunts.
Today I decided to revert back to SZATC and when I shut and locked the door while observing the cluster, before the 7” display goes to sleep it shows the “DOOR OPEN” graphic but no doors are shown open. It did not show this while on MTC because I have checked to make sure the cluster completely sleeps a few times and to see if the alarm led works.
I now wonder if the cluster thinks there is a phantom door open thus causing the P to flash. I don’t know if a ‘16 EcoD would have a 6 or 8 speed trans or if it would have the auto park. Maybe the cluster is not that smart. I also checked and the cluster seems to have acquired the VIN of my truck (thinking there may have been a mismatch).
Anyway the truck runs fine and the new cluster is great and much nicer then the 3.5.
No idea if it can be fixed but its really not broken.
Thanks for reading...

That is an awesome story ... very interesting unfortunately I've never heard of this and I have no idea [emoji848][emoji848]

Good luck on a fix , sounds like you ok with it though .

Maybe @Mpgrimm2 will chime in ?

I've seen this before, I don't recall if a solution was found or they just bought a different one.

If you haven't already tried @clifford15, find the thread on the 2013+ premium cluster upgrade and search for flashing P. You may come across something in there

I’ve only seen one other post and I don’t recall a solution. No big deal as it seems to be working 100% otherwise. Biggest takeaway is that no one else seems to have a flashing P.

This sounds familiar to me to, I can't recall who, but I believe they fixed by getting a different/compatible cluster.

There have been quite a few guys with this issue including @ricksram. He swapped in a 17/18 cluster into his 14 and it had the flashing P. I sent him a 16 cluster to see if it would fix it. It seems to happen in 1500's with the rotary shift knob.

I'll bet the EcoD had a rotary shift. Just did a quick search on AutoTrader for a '16 Ram Eco Diesel and the 1st one I checked has a rotary shift. So it could be happening the other way, rotary to lever shift. That may be the answer and the end of the story for now.
Thanks everyone for your feedback!

All Eco-Diesals have the rotary shifted 8 speed transmission. They never came with a 5 or 6 speed tranny

I bought a Rebel cluster for my sport and had the same issue. I had the person who manufacturers the tazer device try fixing it by flashing the latest software in it and nothing (the guy i bought the cluster from works for him). I ended up returning the cluster.

Im pretty sure all Rebels have a rotary shifter as does my sport, so it isn't that.

Did all other functions work? Mine is flawless otherwise.
