Is it possible a company is finally producing something for all the ZF rear end guys, was doing some hunting around on options for gearing my 2012 and stumbled across this NEW Chrysler 9.25 now I'm wondering if it will accept normal 9.25 gear sets or what the deal is. Summit claims it ships by 8/28 if ordered today however auburns site showing out of stock...just thought I'd share as I searched and hadn't seen anything about this on the forum at all.

Oh that will be awesome. It would be nice for that price to drop some more though.

Guys, I called Auburn this morning to get a little more info about this unit. They said expected release date is September 22nd. This unit will only work with the factory ZF ring/pinion though, so you are limited to only running up to the factory 4.10's. While Auburn generally makes a nice differential, the factory LSD is almost $100 cheaper, and has held up great on even the fastest 4th gen trucks in the country.

For anyone wanting to run 4.56's, Moe's has teamed up with Modern Performance Engineering to start carrying pre machined factory LSD units that will be ready for you to bolt on any aftermarket 9.25 ring gear from 3.55's to 4.88's...you have many options. We should have these units in stock in about 7-10 days, and I will make a formal post about them as soon as they arrive.

So what's the price going to be on a pre machined unit?

These are going to be $899 shipped. This will be for a brand new Mopar limited slip that has already been machined to accept the aftermarket gear. It will also come with new ring gear bolts as they will be needed as well when running the aftermarket 9.25 gears.

Does this help us 2012 4x4 guys who did not want to spend a few grand to re-gear before?

Unfortunately, I don't see anyway to swap gears on a 2012-up front axle without it being expensive. With the ring gear being welded to the carrier, it would have to be replaced with a complete unit, whether it is aftermarket or factory. I hope that we have some more options soon now that Auburn is building a rear LSD, but I just see the '12+ front axles being expensive any way you look at it.

BUT us 4x4 guys 2012-2014 can still install one of these units as long as we aren't changing ratio right?
I've got 3.55 open diff but could install new auburn or modern performance lsd right?

By the sound of it, YES. The 4x4 system is completely independent of an LSD or open diff, [as long as you keep the same ratio in both front and rear axles].

Yes, this will still work if you would like to add a limited slip to the rear axle. My opinion though is to just grab a factory limited slip unit. We sell the factory limited slip for only $599 shipped as apposed to this one being almost $700. The factory ZF LSD unit is actually very strong and has held up to a lot of abuse on many of the fastest Ram trucks in the country. GreyChevy on here is running 12.80's in the 1/4 mile and also does mud races in his truck with the factory LSD, and it has held up great. The factory unit is readily available now as well, so you would not have to wait 5-6 weeks for the Auburn unit to come out.

Not to hijack this thread, but I will be contacting you when I get back from travel Matt! I need to get the factory LSD before winter gets here.
