No you push the luck of everyone on the road around you. One blow out, one aggressive emergency maneuver and it's over, it's just a matter of what gets caught up in the wreck! Just your truck and trailer? You? The car on the road beside, behind, or coming at you? The 17 year old kid driving for the 1st time? Grandma / Grandpa?
I will be the 1st to admit I do dumb things with my truck, aka: 106, etc. but I do these things on empty roads / highways where its me, my truck and the trees and I am not putting the life of others in jeopardy with my antics.
I cannot agree with this more. I tow horses, and the rule of thumb is ALWAYS to have more truck than you think you'll ever need. At the moment, I'm towing a really light two horse with a 2500 gas---l could have "gotten by" with the 1500, with perhaps 1,000 lbs to spare---but then I would have had to have weighed or taken into account every single thing in the trailer or bed of the truck, in order to stay within the weight limits. Hell no. With my 2500, I can tow pretty much anything---including someone else's 6 horse (plus emergency supplies and a bunch of people) in the event of an evacuation or emergency. And this is without the diesel.
