There’s no way it’s a “long bed” as that’s an 8’ bed.
My money is it being a 6’4” bed because it’s got the Ram boxes.
I wish dealers would put the correct information in the sales ad.

I love my truck!

Yeah. I think crew and quads in 1500 the “longbed” is 6’4. I think maybe the reg cab can come in 8’bed. But most dealers are kinda dumb dumbs too lol

Dealer here at home has one with 30K miles on it for $44,000. Doesn't look as good as the one your looking at. I would get it.

You just shake your head when you see something like this....
The way I look at it - this is a "$59K" truck that sold for somewhere in the high $40K range ($10K discount). Being 2 years old with 3 years of "standard" mileage (let's call it 2.5 year old), I"m looking at roughly $15K depreciation, or $6K a year, or $500 a month. Sounds ok if you break it down like this, but not earth shattering.

Haven’t decided yet. Not sure about the open diff, since I’m in Chicagoland. My Tundra is RWD, and I haven’t gotten stuck, yet.

I’ll probably wait till after new year and see if I can maybe get a better deal through Manheim.

It's definately a 6.4 Bed, not a long bed..., BUT...
I don't know if anyone noticed in the 2 pictures of the front wheels, there appears to be a giant dark oil puddle on the tile floor around the rear main?????
Transmission fluid is not that dark unless it's just under the truck dark.
Ya need to check that out before droppin the coin.

You can see it in the side shot also.

Could be condensation from AC, but you're right.... worth checking into, if I decide to buy it.

Make the limited slip a condition of the deal.A dealer can stick the OEM limited slip unit into it fairly cheap,so work on them to add it before you buy it.If they really want to sell the truck, they'll be willing to work it into the deal

The 5th gen has definitely grown on me, to a point where I actually like them (especially the interior). But, reading the forums (while very small sample) has me worried about getting one (even though the drivetrain is for the most part unchanged, eTorque notwithstanding). In close to 30 years of car ownership, I’ve never been stranded due to catastrophic failure (whatever that might be). I’ve taken my Tundra on couple 2500 mile trips, and never once was I worried that the truck would not get me to my destination and back.

The biggest obstacle right now is the fact that a friend is a store manager at one of the Ziegler dealerships and can get me basically any car at Manheim for his cost. I’ve checked out what’s out there, and I can get a pentastar ‘18 Laramie (what I really want) for a hair over $30k (Hemis go for about couple thousand more).
Decisions, decisions, deciaions...
Traded my 13 ram cc v6 SLT in for an 18 ram v8 cc Laramie ($35k). The v6 isn't as peppy as the v8, but it's no slouch. Has mileage was noticeablely better as expected and it could tow well enough for the rare times I needed it. I was perfectly happy with the v6 but did get a good deal on the 18 Laramie with everything but air ride. Plus the 18 comes when Android auto/CarPlay support in 8.4 radios.

My only gripe on the Laramie is the wood trim interior (not a fan) that I'm slowly swapping over to limited dash/door parts.

M² Mods.

Thay actually have couple '17 Laramies with V6 that I test drove as well. While no match to Hemi, they are no slouches by any means. They Pentastars are definitely quicker than the 4.7 iForce in my old Tundra. The lack of CarPlay in '17 kind of sucks - partially why I'm considering holding off and getting an '18.

You can check with Matt at Moe's and see what the cost is for the parts for a LSD. As I recall it's not out of sight.

IMHO, with 4x4, specifically 4x4auto, you don't really need LSD.

I would ask myself...why should I not buy the truck? If you can pass this test then its a no-brainer....good luck with your decision AND your new truck!

Not yet. I’m probably going to hold off for couple weeks - heading to Punta Cana with family first week of January.

In the meantime, I sent a request for a quote to a local dealer that does special order at 6% below invoice + incentives.
MSRP as built hair under $52k (Laramie with V6, 4x4, 6’4” bed, level 1, bucket seats, trailer brake controller, and couple other small options). If I can get the truck for $37-$38k (should be doable, depending on rebates), I might just pull the trigger, hoping that FCA has most of the early gremlins worked out by the time the truck is built.

Good move. Hope it works out for you.

Took me like 3 months to find what I wanted. V8 3.92 rear end, LSD, leather seats and sunroof were a must for me.

I test drove a Rebel with 3.92 and a Limited with 3.21, both v8's and also a v6 with 3.21 rear end. 3.21 gears were too lazy for me.
All I can say is that I never regretted that I had to wait to buy what I really wanted.

Good luck hunting your truck!

Your leaving ALOTTA money on the table... when they give YOU the price in person, walk out. They`ll come around if they really want to sell you a truck.
I beat the dealer monkies to death on my 2018... $15k off the window sticker. It CAN BE done!
Just depends on how much your willing to bend over for them to screw, YOU!

And DONT BUY all the glam they want to push onto you either, like extended warranties, paint protection, electronic rust protection, its ALL a scam...PERIOD.
You can buy the extended FCA warranty down the road later, for a hell of alot less...! And remember, when they finance you, banks pay them to use their service!
Get financing on your own BEFORE YOU go to the dealer... trust me, you can get better financing than they`ll give you.

Last of all, GO OVER THAT CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN IT.... trust, but verify.
Once your inked, you`re done, no changing anything once you sign it.
