Been to the dealer three times and they tell me it’s normal, all other mechanics that drive it tell me something very wrong.

Depends on a few things.

If you have the part time transfer case and are in 4 WD and turn the wheels sharply on not very slick surfaces, you might hear a noise as it can bind the entire system a little bit.

If you have the full time transfer case, it should be fairly quiet most of the time.

Then it depends on what kind of noises.

Hi Robin McLean,
We certainly understand why this may be concerning. If you continue to work with your dealer to address this, we suggest contacting Canadian Ram Customer Care to have this documented. You can find their contact information by clicking on the following link and scrolling down to the "Canada" tab: https://www.fcagroup.com/en-US/footer/Pages/contacts.aspx.

Robin, i’m From the same area. Message me if you want to know which dealers offer customer service, and which dealers offer only sales.

Always have had dogbox whine while in 4Auto slipping or 4wd, especially in the high revs playing in the mud/snow. Transfer case fluids were all clean when I changed at 60k miles, normal operation. It’s even more prominent in reverse 2wd.

My truck originally made popping noises when in 4x4, front drive shaft U-joints were shot. I had the shaft rebuilt and the front is quiet now. But of course, the rear shaft is making ping-pop noises in reverse. I'm 99% sure the mid shaft support is shot. <sigh>
