When I did the subs in my car there was a rubber/foam ring on the back of the mounting ring of the sub, seemed like that was enough to seal it together, as I never had a problem with air leaking around the sub face, even though my box was just painted MDF. Once the screws were tightened down, it made a nice tight seal

back of sub 'should' have seal, don't use anything on the woofer it's self, could void warranty.

The instructions recommend using silicone caulk to seal it

Really? When I was doing my car subs, the pamphlet that came with em said not to use silicone, as the fumes would damage the rubber surround

You silicone the pods onto the frame of the box. Do not put silicone on your speakers. After you silicone the pods be sure and let it have time to set. You dont want to get silicone on the inside of your truck!

The subs should come with some sort of seal.

FedEx said my box will be here in the AM :headbang:
i really don't know what type of silicone to use for the pods? any ideas?

and i wanna wire the 2 subs together for a 2ohm. has anyone drilled a hole in the middle of the box to run the wire from sub 2 sub? then just use one of the speaker terminals to the amp?

Pretty much any silicone will work; jusy give it time to cure before you start pounding haha
I like the drill hole between/run 1 wire idea; just put some silicone on both side of the hole after you pass the wire through to seal it.

couldn't you get the same 2ohm load using the speaker terminals on the box vs drilling through the box? might be a lil easier to accomplish.

Yea it does. On the passenger side no need to take center seatbelt bolt out. Just remove the 4 holding the seat down lift one side set it on spacer. Then do other side. You will know what I'm talking about when you start pulling it a part.
