Frame Modification

I'm new here and don't know where to post this.

I was wondering if the Ram's 3rd gen frame could be shorted, up to 12 inches, if someone were to try to put a different body on the chassis?

Are you trying to put a different make and model body on a Dodge Ram frame? When you shorten the frame on any vehicle you change the geometric shape of it and thus you need to sure that you are getting it back together and lined up properly. It can be done and guys have done it, but you have to also know what your doing and the say "you need the right tool for the job" comes into play here.

My guess is from say a quad cab to reg cab or long bed to short bed.

I have seen pictures of someone who converted a reg cab 6.5ft bed to a reg cab 5.5ft bed. This was a duramax though.

Would probably also need to change the gas tank as the longer wheel base usually have the larger tanks.
