Frame question between a 2500 and a 3500

I have been trying to find factory running boards for my 2021 3500, and parts departments are worthless. They only know what the computer tells them. There are no real parts people left any more.

I digress. Anyhow, the only running board listed for the 3500 in their computer, is the wheel to wheel boards for an 8' bed. That's fine, but that board would end up under the flare of a dually, which I have. I asked the parts guy if the frame and mount points were the same for a 2500 and a 3500. All I got was crickets, and "my computer doesn't say". Damn dude, you work at a dodge dealer, do you even know how to get out of the rain?

Again, I digress. Does anyone here know the answer to this question? If the same, I'll order boards off the Vin from my 2019 and bolt them up. Sorry for the rant, and thanks for any feedback.

If it's a dually, they will run into the trucks rear hips....if it was a single rear wheel, they'd work. You're going to be limited to the crew cab length running boards.

I am going through something similar. I have the factory power boards on my 2021 2500 crew cab long bed SRW. I am trying to find a set of boards that run from the front of the box to the rear wheel well. No joy at all. As to your problem, everything I have found says that what fits the 2021 2500 crew cab will fit the 3500, as long as they stop at the back of the cab. Deezee makes a running board that fits cab to dually, problem is they are not frame mounted.

I am actually looking at have a set of custom frame mount hangers made so I can mount the box board.

As far as the 2500 crew cab....I sold the factory cab length bars from my 2021 to guy who has a 2013 and the fit perfectly.

I finally figured it out for the dealer, and installed the wheel to wheel boards for a short bed, they work perfectly with the dually flares.

I was literally going to suggest this as I have wheel to wheel on a 2500 crew short box and knew they would work perfectly on a crew dually.

Firebird -- Nice truck! I have a 4th gen that's similar (3500 DRW, long bed, crew cab). I've been working through a similar problem: trying find running boards that go a little further back than just cab-length running boards, but that don't run into the fender flare.

Do you know if the solution you found for your 5th gen would be the same for my 4th gen? In other words, if I order a wheel-to-wheel running board for a 4th gen 2500 long bed, will it bolt up to my 3500? Sorry if it's a dumb question. THanks in advance.

They should work on your truck too, as they are the same boards that were on my 2018 and 2019 2500's

I saw a 2021 dually long bed with the wheel to wheel running boards yesterday at a dealer. It was getting ready to be delivered to it’s new owner. There is plenty of clearance between the end of the running board and the front part of the flared dually fender. I ordered a 2022 dually yesterday and I’m thinking of putting those wheel to wheel running boards on mine.

Dealers can order them. I just placed an order for mine today. 2022 2500 Laramie 4x4 6.4 4.10s 6'4 bed, snow chief pack, protection pack, LED bed lights, in patriot blue with the brown and beige interior. MSRP is up $1,005 over the 2021s, and some of the options are a few bucks more. The transmission is unchanged across the board, at least for the early builds, but they all get Uconnect 5

You have to spec it out at the dealer and the transmission will not be a 10 speed. It will be the same old Asin 6 speed.

Very disappointing! I keep reading where they say they are changing the tranny. Sounds like it is going to be awhile.

Finally found a good quality extruded aluminum checker board running board that runs from the front of the box to the rear wheels, for my 8' box. Had it powder coated black so it looks great with the red truck. They look great and I will post pictures shortly.
