I think for better protection, a HD bumper is the way to go in lieu of a just a grill guard. I had a UTE aluminum bumper/bull bar on my 95. I wish they were still available.

I've hit 4 deer with Big White since I put this GO Industries Rancher grill guard on.

I Never fixed any of the tiny dents caused by deer rotating around and smacking the sides. Can you find the dents?

Had one on my '09 1500 SLT too. Hit 2 with that.

Here's a couple of picks, all taken after hitting 4 deer in NJ and PA.....and 1 of the deer. Never did find the 4th leg, LOL.3f54805cc747127f28bbfcb7e3767176.jpg582f3c07f3f1dffe26c183e9cddfd8b6.jpg30d2d04c86ea11d46ac9b67e1350190e.jpg6c049ed4f43e4006f273e9d942876fa9.jpg546ce390b3c3efce871e1318593796af.jpgd60c3a0791f269e7ab836eedf94fef34.jpg2526e15da6c73540a8ebc4b219be0d72.jpg

You need a sausage grinder mounted where a winch would be!
I ran over a dead one and had deer pate on the running boards, dog's were happy when I got home.

I ordered mine from Mother's Performance but you can buy thru anybody. Got this one with the tough Armor coating. (Xtra $250. but well worth it). Last truck had gloss blk powdercoated one. After 85 miles a day commute on North Jersey highways, it got sand blasted and rusty. Nothing hurts this tough armor crap, not even antlers.
Thank you so much, The ranch hand model is heavy duty. Better than the others I looked at. Thank you for field testing it for us :) 4 deer field test and the grill handle it very well.

It’s kinda a brush/bull bar: AMI Swing Step Bull Bar. Just a little more protective up front and a good place to hang a light bar.

I killed two more with my last truck also. 2009 Ram 5.7 QC 4X4 SLT.

I had the same bar but in powder coat gloss black.

I know it's almost a $grand$ but, how many times I DIDN'T have to replace fenders, hood, grille, bumper adds up. I heard one young dude hit one deer did $6,000. damage. Once. If you live in deer country, it's just a matter of time bro.

Howdy,

Read through these, so many nice ones out there. I live in big time deer country and need a front end guard. Buddy hit a deer and hooves punctured trans oil cooler, fried tranny. Oops.

2017 Ram 2500 Crew Cab
- Heavy Duty Deer Guard
- I have front proximity sensors
- I do not use, nor need a winch
- I have the 2 tow hooks, but have never used these in the past

Do any of you have thoughts about what would work best for this application?
- Brand
- Model
- Cusom

Thankyou.

Disappointed to learn Westin has been outsourced to China. Yes, even the top of the line HDX. Unbelievable race to the bottom.

Luverne Truck Equipment is still hanging tough in the USA, as is Ranch Hand and one other. I think I like the Luverne Power Max best.

See my truck in my avatar - would a stainless or painted black grille guard look better?

Opinions, please..........

Due to all the chrome you have I'd go stainless.

Thanks. I'm not that much into looks, but might as well ask when buying a new accessory since both are available.

I checked into aluminum, knowing it would cost more. The big rigs use aluminum to keep weight down, cause their grilles are so huge. I was right - they're about 2-1/2 times the price and replace the entire bumper. (Truck Defender) For our pickup trucks, they're small enough to weigh not much less than stainless steel.

Thinking of going with Luverne SS - made here in MN. Westin looks nice, but made in China (company confirmed) & the robustness of the attachment is in doubt - which is key to whether it can resist a deer hit or not.

My cousin has a Westin HDX on his F250 and has drilled a couple deer with it already.
Never moved.
My Black HDX seems pretty solid too.
As to made in Gina- that's up to you, but most likely everything will be before too long...

Appreciate the testimonial on effectiveness. I keep fighting to buy American. I lost my career to outsourcing by U.S. Oligarchs. If we don't even attempt to buy U.S., our kids have a bleak future.

I looked at them all and the Westin HDX was the most stout one out there.Others seemed cheap and flimsy.
