Going to change a front wheel hub on my '06 1500 4x4 today... any tips? Looks pretty straight forward, as long as the rust hasn't welded everything together.

Well I just did mine about a month ago and lets just say F@CK north east Ohio and it's ****** winters! I ended up removing the spindle and spending several, and I mean several hours with a 4" grinding wheel and an air chisel. I had to cut the flange off (the part where the studs stick through) then cut one of the 3 flanges about 3/4 of the way through, just enough to get my air chisel behind it and break it loose without breaking the tab off. Talk about a pain in the ass! When it went back together I never seized the **** out of everything. If I were you, you might want to have a press lined up just incase. However you decide to do it, good luck....

Matco has a special tool for the 3/4 ton front bearings that gave me an idea to make something for the 1/2 ton trucks. If you loosen all the bolts and take your socket and an extension on the lower bolts, then turn the wheel and find a spot that the extension can seat against the lower a arm, start the truck and bump the extension against the a arm with the assist of the power steering then move the socket and extension to the opposite lower bolt and do the same to that side. Remove the bolts completely and should just need a few taps from a hammer to further remove the bearing assembly from the spindle. Hope this helps.
