One of my old running buddies had a 454 in a Monza just like the one in your photo. His was silver.... and it was stupid fast. Also lit up the night sky when he popped wheelies at night. It got terrible gas mileage, but he didn't care.
My wife had a Monza with a 502 and wheelie bars. Needless to say it didn't go down the street. It went from the garage to the trailer to the drag strip, down the 1/4 mile, then back on the trailer to go home. If it hadn't been for the wheelie bars it likely would have flipped over.

This fellow had been a professional Hollywood stuntman at one time. I guess he was just extra adept at handling that much power. He sold it about a year after he finished the build. Family obligations, dontcha know?

Yeah, I ran with a rather crazy crowd, in retrospect! I drag raced a 1966 Galaxie 500XL with a 428CJ, C-6 trans with truck planetaries, and a 3:70 posi diff with 31 spline axles. (stock was 28 spline). No roll cage, no driveshaft loop, no harness or helmet, you know.... insane! Looking back, it was kind of like a gun.... aim and pull the trigger!

We ran on 1/4 mile dirt oval tracks that way. Drove there: Pulled Plates. Changed intake on 383 the ole cookie sheet and plopped down a 4 barrel. Ran around track (and this was a 65 Chrysler 300), Got done. Pulled intake, put on 2 barrel and put plates back on and drove home. LOL.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the good ole days.

The only thing U had to wear was a helmet when was riding a motorcycle back in those years they were mandatory, and still are in that state, not like TX with different laws and age requirements.

I never rode my motorcycle without a helmet. I've always regarded it as simple good sense. The gummit having to tell people they must wear a helmet isn't for our protection; they do not want to feed you or change your diaper in a state facility. They want you (me) able bodied enough to work and pay taxes!

You can only beat a fuel milege thread so far into the ground after 7 pages it's gonna get side tracked.;)The synthetic oil thread must really bother you then :Big Laugh:
Bother me? Nahh...I've steered clear of that thread on purpose. People get WAY to wound up about religion, politics, and synthetic oil. LOL

Because I had a 3800 SII SC in my '98 Grand Prix GTP. To do the rear plugs, had to remove the 'dog bones' (front engine mounts) to rock the engine forward to make it easier to access the rear plugs. My evidently 'larger than average' forearms prevented me from being able to reach them otherwise.
Same way in my '03 and '04 Impalas

We drove down to Florida again. This time I calculated miles per gallon by “pen and paper”. The computer calculated the trip down as 12.2 miles per gallon. The pen and paper came out about 11.9 miles per gallon Possibly 12 mpg. Also, I tried doing half the trip without using the tow/haul feature. And then the rest of the trip using that feature. I noticed absolutely no difference in fuel economy.

We are leaving New York State Monday night for good. I’ve got to do the front and rear brakes when I get to Florida. The last time I used the Raybestos Element 3 rotors and pads.

I was looking at the different categories on rock auto. There is a premium category and a heavy duty category (trailer/haul). What would be a good brake rotor and pad combination when constantly towing a trailer (even though it’s only 5’ x 10’)?
2015 Ram 1500 big horn 5.7L hemi.

Thanks!

Ps. And I do have to clean the throttle body and change the plugs.

Clean throttle body? is it dirty?
Plugs - what does your owner's manual say?

Try the following:
Cataclean
Red Line Fuel system cleaner
Lucas Fuel Treatment
