Hi, I have a 2001 Ram 1500 5.2 and I want to install a fuel pressure gauge in the truck cabin. I have a new autometer electric fuel pressure gauge which was for my 94 LT1 vette but, it was wrecked/totaled a couple months ago so, I'm trying to use it on my Dodge. It's a pretty simple install until I looked at my fuel rail schrader valve....completely different from a Chevy and/or Ford. It's a lot narrower/taller and I couldn't find anything to fit/adapt to the fuel rail to make this gauge work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to hook this gauge to the dodge? I would prefer to use this gauge because I already have it and it's an expensive/quality gauge and if not possible to use this gauge then who sells a decent electric or mechanical FP gauge for the 01 ram 5.2? and do I have to us the fuel rail as the only source to install the FP gauge? Any advice is appreciated. Oh yea, the vette pillar gauge pod fits the ram pillar very well...

EDIT:

I was doing some research and I think I may go this route unless someone chimes in as to why or why not?

I'm thinking of plumbing in the FPG gauge into the fuel rail cross over line, I'm gonna install a Summit Fuel Pressure Gauge fitting in the center of the cross-over line and attach it with 3/8 fuel injection hose/clamps and in the center of the FPG adaptor I could then hook up my electric FPG and all is good!! Well see, If have to check on if the crossover line is 5/16 or 3/8 but, either way, it should work. Any other ideas??

some of the parts:

I used to have this info on file but can't find it, did you try Autometer part numbers 3280 or 3279 adapters? These part number ring a bell just don't remember what one works I think I was the 3279 adapter. Glowshift also has some snubbers/adapters that might work, you could also build you own from brass fittings you can get at any auto/hardware store.

I just looked up the 2 PNs and 3280 is for the Diesel Dodge and 3279 is for a Ford....I don't think they'll work.....from what the pic shows. I would of never guessed it would be such a PITA to install a FP gauge...I'll keep looking. I was looking at the fuel rail schrader valve again this morning and I don't think my schrader valve tool will work to pull the valve, the relief valve seems very narrow, does anyone have any experience with fuel rail schrader valve removal on the 5.2?

If I get a chance today I have some NPT fitting's out in the barn and will go see what it takes to make one up. I will also check to see if the reg old schrader valve tool will work.

What size fitting does the psi sensor need to fit into?

Thanks for helping out, NPT is 1/8 and I'll throw in a couple of pics of the sender. Fittings / adaptors for fuel & brake lines isn't my specialty....I always go through this every year or so when I tackle a small project like this. Thanks.

not sure of the brass fitting size, it came with the FPG.

No worries.....from my understanding there are only 2 ways of going about this, plumbing in an adaptor on the crossover line or buying aftermarket fuel rails that have a feature for FR/and or FPG.....I prefer option one due to the low cost. I probably won't get to installing the gauge until Fri night or this weekend but, I could get the parts/adaptor in the meanwhile. Thanks....
