I have a 2019 ram Laramie. Up until recently I have had no problems filling Up the gas tank. However, about 3 or 4 fillups ago the fill nozzle at the pump has gotten stuck in the capless fill port. try as I will I could not get it out. The attendent was familiar with the problem and came to my rescue with a long screwdriver to extract it. He basically told me you have to get in there with a screwdriver and free the clip that holds it in place. I really don't want to go to the pump with a screwdriver every time in order to eradicate the nosel. For 4 years I have not had a problem with this in the now all of a sudden this occurs. I purchase gas at a station that has many pumps and this problem occurs at every pump nozzle. At first, I thought something had changed on the pump nozzle. Does anyone have a solution besides going to the dealer in replacing the entire filling mechanism to the tank at their exorbitant prices?

If nothing has changed on your truck (no damage to filler/neck assembly): Short insertion of nozzle spout into filler neck (potential for late automatic shut-off causing fuel spill) or replace filler neck assembly. They aren't hard to change out. You can source the parts yourself and replace. This is one of RAM's failed engineering items. There are TONS of online posts about it.

You really have to be careful when trying to get that stuck nozzle out. When I had my 2019 1500 Bighorn I had a stuck nozzle, and when it finally let go and came out, it hit the bedside right above the filler neck. It left a pretty good dimple, but luckily after a $100 visit to my PDR shop it was removed.

You have a funnel for the fill port of the filler for additives, etc. Take that, get a spray can of WD40, and douse the outer surface of the part of the funnel that goes down into the tank. As you put the funnel in and out, spray generously with the WD40. This is Ford's answer to this problem and the occasional P0456 DTC you'll eventually get. I do that on any of the brands of cars with the capless fuel fill when I do a service on the vehicle.

First time I have heard that, hmmmm, ref the WD 40 trick on the funnel. I got to store that info in the BOIRD BRAIN for future knowledge.
