Gear Shift locked in Park

2013 Ram intermittent problem with gear shifter locked in park. There is a yellow plastic paddle (I call it) under the cover. Pushing it up unlocks the shifter ... question is. How deep do I have to dig to get at the source of the problem. Is it a simple lube issue, or a broken something. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. It is very annoying. Thanks

Could be your switch down on the brake petal. Also i know some rams had a recall run your vin

Brake needs to be on to release the shifter, sounds like a shift interlock issue. As mentioned above, check the brake switch.
