I was just wondering what gears come on the 2014 sports and if there any good for towing. I towed a trailer full of heavy show hogs a couple of weeks ago and it was kinda struggling a little but once I pushed the tow and haul option it was a totally different truck.

I would think options are still the same, 3.21 and 3.92's?

If not you will know by rpm. Running the stock tire if you have 3.21s you will be roughly 1600rpms @ 70mph. If you have 3.92s you will be roughly 1900rpms @ 70mph

3.21 is standard, a 3.92 would be an option on all models. Your build sheet will tell you what you need to know.

If you can believe it the sport hood is an option too.. most sports are ordered well equiped tho (leather, sun roof, spray in, tow package ect.) Unless your dealer is clueless..

Look for a tag like this on the rear axle:

3.92s work a treat with the 8 speed, make the truck feel quick and don't hurt the mpg (much).:happy107:

I got mine which seems fully loaded expect for the alpine sounds system but I have rag bucket seats (half leather),4x4, sport hood, touch screen, for a steal I might say right around $32,000 before finance @ 9,000 miles and it's a 2014 cc 6.4 bed. so I didn't want to pass up the offer. I looked at my build sheet it does have the 3:21 gears.

Uconnect 8.4, premium cluster and center console is standard. So they just threw the hood in. You dont have the optional seats. Id still take an version of a sport any day over any express or big horn.

That is a good deal tho. I paid more than that for my black out express cc 4x4

I would honestly consider re-gearing but I don't like the concept of re-gearing the front end when 4x4 is a must down here in South Texas especially when hurricane season has started early!

My 3.21's with 8 speed and 35's still pulls way harder than my 2011 with 32" and 3.55's...

Really we have the same set up, and I'm very happy to with these big old tires she still gets up and goes but I before this one I had a little red hemi express same year. I took another loaded trailer of show hogs for about a 3 hour ride. She was bone stock nothing but a level kit and a k&n and I had no trouble pulling the trailer at all. Maybe on this set up the lift and tires does drain the truck that much of power even compensating with a tuner.

Better is relative. 3.92 gives you better towing and better acceleration and 3.21 better mileage. I have 3.21 on my sport since I knew I wouldn't be towing anything heavy and if I did it would be rare. Just a couple wheelers usually. So mileage was more important. If you plan on getting big tires (37s) then the 3.92 would also work better. To me the 3.21 still feels really powerful with great acceleration so I have no complaints :)
