Has anyone been able to confirm if there is any difference between gen 4 and gen 5 coil springs for a 4x4? I planned on purchasing the Inez 3/5 kit but the 4x4 kit isn't available yet. I have a Ground Force kit sitting in my garage, hoping it will work. Just thought a quick check on here to see if anyone knows before I waste the time trying it.

I spent some time under the truck the other day and measured what I could. Here's what I saw.

The front spring on the new 2019 is quite a bit shorter (thinking this was done to take some mass out of the assy, partly adding up to the 200# mass reduction on the 2019), which makes the perch on the strut that much higher. Without having both strut assys out of the truck and in front of me, I can't say whether the overall length of the assy is the same. If they are the same overall length and all mounting points are the same, you could theoretically use a 4th gen strut assy with lowering springs on the 5th gen.

Seeing that I want to improve the ride quality when lowered over what I experienced on the 4th gen Ground Force kit...I just decided to wait for the Inez 3/5 4x4 kit to be released. It just isn't worth the time trying to see if the 4th gen ground force kit will work on the 5th gen, if I want to go in another direction anyways. Also, I don't have the upper strut mounting assy for a 4th gen to be able to compare them.

Pretty sure 4 gen 4wd struts will lower it about 2”. I’ve swapped 5th gen struts to a 4 gen and got about a 2” lift. The 5 gen is the one without the bump stop

I think I'm gonna try this. I have a bilstein 5100 laying around, so I just need to find a gen 4 spring seat. If the springs are the same diameter at the seat, I don't see why this wouldn't work. Gen 4 bilstein or stock strut, gen 5 spring and upper strut mount with some belltech rear springs...If it works, it'll make for a pretty cheap 2/4 drop! Should work for the summer while Inez finishes up the 3/5 for us 4x4 guys.

Bilstein has a billet spring seat but it comes with their 2" lift. Hopefully I can buy it separate.

From what I have seen McGaughy's and Accessory Partners are selling the same part # for the new 19 DT trucks.

Any updates on whether the 4 gen swap works on the 5th gen?
