stay away from the CP4, my humble opinion. I just bought a NEW 2018 because they put the CP4 on the "new" 2019...bad idea

Just all depends upon what yer backside tells U when U sit and drive each choice. 4th Gen vs 5th Gen a lot of opinions ref appearances. The draw back would be: I personally did get a MY 19 DT (5th Gen), but I stayed with lower rear (3.21). If U plan on towing, either Gen, get 3.92 rear, BUT I would stay away from E-Torque, but again just another opinion. Of course, the number of zero's and the location of the decimal point in yer bank account may have more to say. Just IMHO......

Gen 4 is best its a real truck.. these new trucks suck and look cheaply made/worse then then gen 4s they look more like toyotas to me :D:p cant see myself ever owning a ram newer then a 4th gen.

I bought a 2018 holdover and got a hell of a deal on it. Check on the Ram Truck Builder Site and you may be able to find exactly what you’re looking for at a good price. May have to travel a little but it was more than worth it to me. Check it out and get what YOU want. After all you will be paying for it. Good luck.

Ram Truck Builder Site - just the Ram Trick site where you can configure(build) your truck? It will show built trucks that match your configuration?
If so, I missed that.

Gen 5s ride smoother, more like an SUV but they have some QC issues in my experience. Doors seem to be misaligned on the Gen 5s and one i drove would rub the driver side tire at full lockout. .

I've read a couple times that the Saltillo MX trucks are built better than the US trucks are. I have as much Red, White and Blue pride as the next American but I can respect it when the boys down South have got their manufacturing figured out better than us. Hopefully the Gen 5 quality issues were more about dialing in a new design and less about whose men, women and robots did the assembly.

My last truck was an 03 2500 CTD. Great truck. Quad cab, 8’ bed, 80’ turning radius.
I’m looking for a late model low miles truck. I like the Rams, won’t be towing more than 7k, not infrequent highway commuts of 110 miles (unloaded).
I want 4wd. will be towing small TT occasionally. Dirt road exploring, not a serious off roader.

Gen 4 or gen 5?
Best options?

Thanks

You might look at this ad, online today:

https://www.lodicdjr.com/inventory/New-Ram-1500_Classic/

That's where I got mine in December, same kind of discounts. You might not get every inch of the various discounts, but you can get most of them easily, more if you can hang tough.
My 2019 Warlock is a V6 quad cab 4X4 and it rides better than any truck I've ever been in. Good luck and good hunting.
