Good deal for 6.4 oil change?

Im comming up on my first oil change at 5k miles on ticker... Amazon has the oil (7q) and filter for 75.00 is that a good deal?

To be honest... I usually just let my local Pepboys handle my oil changes it’s typically cheaper if not around the same price once you buy 2 gallons of oil and a filter seems they typically have $15-20 off Penzoil synthetic oil changes. Unless of course you wanna do it yourself.

That’s a decent price. You can find the oil alone though for 8.95 currently Amazon Prime. I pay a little more and use the SRT filter. I have not found PUP at any local store including PEP Boys.

Valvoline is also certified recently to meet the Chrysler spec, but I haven’t gone shopping since to see if it’s competitive on price.

That’s what I pay for oil / filter with Amsoil or Redline. PUP is really good, make sure it’s not a regular Mopar filter. Like mentioned above, I’d get the SRT or the Royal Purple filter.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, it was designed by Mopar and Pennzoil for the SRT 6.4L and 6.2L Hemi’s.

It has all the good stuff in it to keep the Hemis from destroying cams and lifters.

I’d say check out the synthetic oil thread, but here is the cliff notes

Redline
Amsoil
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum
Pennzoil Yellow Bottle

All of those have been proven over time and real world tests by a bunch of us getting analysis done on our oils, to stop the infamous Hemi Tick, which will destroy lifters and cams.

6.4- 0W-40 or 5/10W-40
5.7- 5/10W-30 (Some guys mix 3qts of 0W-40 and 4qts of 5W-30 with good results)

FYI to Traveling Ram--I found Valvoline synthetic at WalMart for $20 a 5 qt jug.

I get all my oil changes done at my dealership for $88. Thats cheaper than doing it myself and I don't have to get dirty either. That gives me more time wrenching on funner projects.
