Remote oil and fuel filters have been in use on alot of diesals for the last 75 years with no issues ;)
I know. I briefly researched these as an alternative to the oil udder I bought or wrapping the front axle and it's electrical connection in something to protect it. I'm very concerned with that connection on top of the front axle. Could not care less if it hits the axle itself.
I read in here in here that there was an oil pressure drop with the oil filter relocation kits in some applications which steered me back to trying a way to figure out how to divert the oil from the filter away from that front electrical connection.
Your post in this thread has me concerned as well with the 90 degree elbows used to fit the kit.

With my set-up i gained a couple psi across the board, but i also spent some time rounding off all the sharp edges on the adapters and run high flow fittings.
It does hurt to do an oil change though,as i need a touch over 8 quarts and 2 filters, lol.

Not perfect but I found this by chance.

I have one of these disposable icebox water dispensers. Cut lower 1/3 off. It will slide up under filter, catch oil and turn filter sideways to dump it. While spout is open and redirecting oil over and into pan.

Just watch coming forward with filter if it slips and splashes in oil pan. Maybe I'll keep more of front of jug when I make my next one.Ozarka-Drinking-Water-2-5-Gallon_b1d93c02-a5a5-451a-a150-b03d4f0705cb_1.458fad7485166d7eedc74...jpeg

Have you tried using an oil filter plug/cap. They sell on amazon for about $10. Search Cummins filter plug. You just loosen filter and lower enough to screw cap on top of filter then you can turn sideways without oil spilling and remove from vehicle.

I've got a 14. Getting to the filter and not making a mess all over the steering rack was almost impossible. The flexible funnel seemed to work ok but I ended up biting the bullet and installing the relocation kit from pac brake. I'm super impressed with the kit! Everything is very nice quality and with the filter mounted up on the frame now, changes are a breeze!

I use this as well. Waaaay better than plastic bag or funnels. Never spill a drop when changing

I have to remove the front passenger tire to gain access to the filter. I use a cheap oil filter plug tool from amazon, its about $10, once the filter is removed and lowered straight down. Then I can lay the filter on its side and remove it.
Easy peasy.
No gimicky baloney, no filter relocation, and definitely no ziplock bags. lol

Take the oil filler cap off, punch a hole in the bottom of the filter and let it drain. Works like a charm every time with no spill at all!

This tool makes changing oil a breeze.
I also take off my front right tire to access. It’s perfect because I also rotate my tires at the same time I do my oils change. Not one drop of oil gets spilled!
It’s from Genos Garage

Just as an FYI, in those rediculously long URL's towards the very beginning where you see..

/ref=blahblahblah_super_long_string_of_letters_and_numbers_12345_etc

..you can just leave everything off after the '/' (deleting the 'ref=xyz123...' part all the way to the end).
Just makes things a bit more tidy looking.:mf_pcwhack:

I open the oil fill cap, remove the dip stick, Drain the pan, punch a hole in the filter where it drains straight to the waste container, and then use a shop towel to remove the filter. No oil spills and very easy to do.

I like what trono67j wrote, "I think next time I change the oil and filter I'm gonna buy a sheet of sheet metal, bend the sides up and let the oil from the filter hit the "ramp" of sheet metal and flow into my oil catch".

Reminds me of the 2008 Ram 1500 with the smaller motor. Attached to the motor was a funnel to catch the oil and guide it to the bucket.

So funny timing that I came across this post because I literally just came upstairs after changing the oil on my wife's new Mitsubishi RVR and I totally jinxed myself when I saw where the oil filter was and I said Oh this is going to be a breeze
We'll turns out I have never seen a filter on tighter than this one and I spent over an hour trying to get it off without punching it with a screwdriver because I wasn't positive I had the correct replacement
In the end had to punch through it and the new filter fit fine
So getting back to the original post I've found out that no matter what I tried oil is going to be spilled when changing the Hemi oil so I put a tarp down to cover as much of the floor as possible and take a plastic garbage bag and wrap it around the front axle under the oil filter area then let'r rip
Clean up as required after
Happy New years!

Vac-Extract most oil out of the dipstick tube, the rest out of the drain plug, and a Baxter spin on oil filter adapter take all the mess away when doing a 3.6L.
