Not sure if this would be better here under exterior or interior since it’s not in the cab but under the hood but what’s a good brand of LED underhood bulb? Thanks.

What’s the bulb size? I don’t have an under hood light however looking into upgrading. Sylvala makes some pretty bright LED’s

Underhood? I used the following which I purchased off Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0196G10CA/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Because they sit sideways in the lamp, I two two bulbs back to back to each other and installed them. This gives out twice the light output and covered the entire engine bay. They are a little tricky to get two of them on the lamp bulb holder but you can do it and they have worked flawlessly since installing them back in June 2018.

And for the reverse backup lights, I utilized the following on all three of my Rams.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077PQWQR2/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And for license plate lamps (there are two of them), I utilized the following also on all three of my Rams.

Yes, I had the same bulb in my under hood lamp and replaced it with the LEDs in my previous post. Use two of them back to back and you'll have tons of pure bright white light under the hood.

That's a great idea running them back to back, will have to try that. I have 1 in there now and it points off to one side so not really optimal.

I really hate those Festoon bulbs, wish they would use something different.

I didn’t either for some reason, even in a fully loaded Limited but I do now. Ordered it and the wiring harness off Amazon.

Thanks, I might try that back to back

I actually purchased both the twisted style and the flat which I installed back to back. I had significantly more light with the back to back lights and returned the twisted version. My old eyes need a lot more light than when I was younger...and progressive lenses too! Another ten years with poorer eyesight and I’ll have the underneath of my hood lit up like a football stadium on Monday night football.

LOL!

I started bringing a flashlight (nothing yuge, just one of those CR2032 battery-driven keychain models) to restaurants about ten years ago.

Never ceases to amaze me that the nicer places aren't run by the best and brightest - and their lighting certainly isn't either.

You figure if people can afford the prices they're likely to be older, not younger, and need the light, contrast, and LARGER PRINT on the damned menus.

My wife makes me bring my "dining glasses" when we go out now.

I used that one as well. Nice light output but still the issue of it pointing sideways so you don't get the full benefit of the light. I tried to twist the leads a little the other day to point it down and ended up breaking it so back searching again....

.

As the light is mounted towards the left (looking from the front) I just installed it aimed to the right and it does ok for me.

I, too, was wanting to upgrade my hood light as the factory one was dull as hell.
In November of 2016, I purchased this one from Diode Dynamics. I installed it and have been running with it for a little over two years now without incident. The DD LED is a HUGE improvement over the factory bulb.

Yeah I saw that one on Amazon. Wish they had one with more LED's on it (brighter).

I'm actually thinking of just tapping off that light circuit and adding a couple light pods instead of using the stock fixture.
