Underhood? I used the following which I purchased off Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0196G10CA/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Because they sit sideways in the lamp, I two two bulbs back to back to each other and installed them. This gives out twice the light output and covered the entire engine bay. They are a little tricky to get two of them on the lamp bulb holder but you can do it and they have worked flawlessly since installing them back in June 2018.

And for the reverse backup lights, I utilized the following on all three of my Rams.

And for license plate lamps (there are two of them), I utilized the following also on all three of my Rams.

Wondering if that under hood light is the same replacement for the interior rear dome light?

How do you get to the bulb in the under hood light? 2017 Sport.

The manual doesn’t reference an under hood light at all.

I don’t want to break something trying to detach it from the hood.

Did yours come with a underhood light? I’m just curious but either way it’s kind of a pain in the ass. All four corners of that clear lens are held in pretty good with some strong clips on the lens. It’s almost like you’re just better off to unplug it from the harness and take the whole lamp off your hood so that you can stick a precision screwdriver in the bottom holes and pry all four corners of the lens from the bottom of the lamp.

Yes, I had the same bulb in my under hood lamp and replaced it with the LEDs in my previous post. Use two of them back to back and you'll have tons of pure bright white light under the hood.
OK A dumb question from a Old Fart When you said back to back how did you mount the bulbs ? I just am trying to picture them How did you mod the connection for 2 bulbs ?>
lol

I took two of the bulbs and put them back to back so the less we’re facing out (one towards the passenger side of the hood and the other towards the drivers side of the hood). It was a little tricky installing them at that point and took a couple of tries but I succeeded in getting them installed on the hook connectors. It’s raining pretty good right now and getting dark but will snap a couple pictures tomorrow during the daylight and post them.

Yes, the light is OEM standard from factory.

I would like to separate the light assembly from the hood...just not sure how to go about it. The assembly is attached loosely: I can wiggle it but don’t want to just yank it off and break something.

The light housing is clipped to another piece of plastic that is held to the hood by a single plastic push pin. Well, that piece of plastic that’s attached to the hood should be attached on one side of the lamp housing but mine when I was installing it, broke so they are now two separate pieces...lol. They didn’t send me the push pin in the kit so I had to use a different one and modify it.

BTW, I tried a VLED 561 festoon, and the metal base next to the wire was too fat to fit in one side of the fixture. So it will not work.
