what are the specs exactly on your new but messed up wheels? Im lookin to put some 35s on 17s when i get my bilsteins put on. btw how hard was it to just do the front?
To do the 35's on there this is what you need on a 17" Wheel. I am still trying to find some.
17x9 with a 0 offset
or
17x8.5, -6 offset.
This keeps the rubber inside the wheel well for the most part. But good luck trying to find the wheels. I can find -12 offsets all day long in this size, but then the tire will be about an inch or so out past the wheel well.
I had KC Customs do the fronts because I did not have a spring compressor and from what I seen in it looked hard.
Plus I have to take back now because I have like a clunking/rattle type noise everytime I hit the slightest bump.
Love how it looks, but the noise is not good at all. Sounds like a 1970's truck now. Pretty bummed out, because I have only 1500 miles on it.
I have never, ever encountered problems like I have with this Dodge trying to modify it.
Fords were so simple to lift, modify, increase HP and everything.
In one month I have gone through more **** on this truck. Almost makes me want to get rid of the ******* thing!!
I am discouraged that you have the wobble. I was going with the bilstiens, now I'm not sure. Damn it man.
Not only that , but the Upper Control arms on these things stick out like no other truck I have ever seen! Makes it next to impossible to use the stock wheel.
I put my stock wheel on with the Nitto Terra Grappler 295/70/17, and I can't even stick a piece of paper in between the sidewall and upper control arm.
Plus it rubs in a hard reverse turn.
All this **** you read, you can intall 35" tires with factory wheels is ********!
Now I am going through hell trying to find a 17" wheel with the right offsets, that I will like on my truck!
And yeah when you put this thing in 4HI, it is really a weird feeling for sure!
Maybe if I would have only set it to 2.1, instead of the 2.8 it would not have been as bad. But then you have to take the whole thing out, take apart again to reset it!! **** it cost me $200 to have a Custom Truck place do it and I not only have the wobble/vibration, but I also have a clunking / rattle type noise on every little bump I hit.
And beware, because these shocks are stiff!!! Hopefully they soften up a bit.
name brand or even type of front end level doesn't increase or decrease the chance of the wobble.
Well I beg to differ with you man, because I did not have it before it was installed, so it must have increased the chances, because now it is there.
Sorry to hear all the drama man...that sucks. At least you got tires and Bilsteins! I would get your truck aligned first before you worry about a clunk. Your tires are probably towed in pretty bad right now and maybe something it pushed funny.
Can you take back your newest sets of wheels and just get another kind? Rims shouldn't wobble fresh outta the box. Can't wait to see your level truck!
Since NTB bought those, from Discount to replace the ones they scratched, now I have to wait for Discount to give NTB a credit then they will send me a check.
I have been waiting for almost two weeks now for them to send me the check for the Nitto's.
Unforturnatley I don't have any tires yet. I am still running on the Nitto's .
Now here is the real ****........There is nothing wrong with these Nittos at all! The reason they could not balance is because of the wobble in the wheels on my sig pic.
So two sets of wheels that came from Discount Tire that were ****!
Tires Plus mounted these Nittos on my factory wheels and two of them , it took less that .50 ounce to balance them. The other two, less than 1 ounce.
So all this **** I have been going through has been the wheels!
Bro, I am about at my wits end.
Now I don't want to get it aligned, because if KC Customs has to take this level/Bilstein kit back out to see why I have the Clunk/Rattle noise. Alignments are not cheap!
Don't know if you run the Bilsteins, but man these things are stiff......I love the cornering stability but wow, you can feel every little bump with them. I can see where they would be one hell uv a off road shock for sure!
