The gap don't look real bad, but you are burning some oil. I did a Chevy cavalier once that was supposed to be gapped at .35 and had a gap of .65 they were shot LOL

Looks like there is some sort of fuel additive being used... If it was oil it would been fluffy white deposits. But the Orange/brown color is like a fuel additive.

As for the electrodes they are not bad...

Might be best to change them out...

As for me I would of sandblasted them, regapped and gone for more... But I'm just slightly crazy...

That sounds like the plugs I pulled out of my truck, It still ran well so it took me a while to check them, and the colouring was good, they were just worn out.

Ya the Cav had over 100K on stock set of plugs, ran fine only complaint was MPG wasn't "as good as it used to be". So I gave it a tune up and figured out why when I pulled the plugs and the air filter that was black from lack of changing why it only got 18 MPG LOL
