Got a pair of Recon tail lights this weekend...

and while researching it seems that the only issue is that some people may get a backup light out error.. I've heard mentioning of a resistor, but nothing other than on occasion.

Is there a new flasher that's needed for LED tail lights? I know on the Jeeps I've done, it required a new flasher module so that the turn signals would work properly..

These bad boys were only $100, new in box, so I don't mind doing some things to make sure they kick ass.. haha

If your truck came without LEDs you will need to ad a resistor . Retro shop sells a plug and play adapter for this .

If your truck came without LEDs you will need to ad a resistor . Retro shop sells a plug and play adapter for this .

$130 for a resister? :roflsquared: Not a chance in hell. I'll plug them in and then deal with whatever pieces need to be fixed at that point. My electronics background would kick me right in the balls if I paid that for a simple fix.

Especially when you can get flasher modules for significantly less to stop the rapid flash.

Not sure about the RAM's blinker/hazard setup. But On my 87 trans am I swapped to high powered LEDs in all exterior lighting (alot of bulbs lol) and most would cut the wiring a swap in 50w resistors AKA heat elements to get it to all work correctly. I would never do that and I went out and got electronic LED flashers and just replaced the stockers for it all to work correctly. Thats on a old school wiring setup/system. But the new RAMs everything controlled canbus system. Not even sure you can swap out a flasher relay anymore.

You might want to look into more before you figure your going to need the harness lol.

Yeah, exactly.. And my Dodge is an '09. Just early enough to avoid a ton of the electrical mess of too many computers.

With Jeep, same thing. Swapping out to LED all across the board just meant you had to swap out the flasher relay for one that would work w/ the LED tail lights.

So I'll end up playing with this bad boy a bit more. Especially with such a great deal on the lights, it's worth playing with a bit.

It is just a resistor with 2 plugs and a ground so I agree that 130 is steep but I think it's catered more to the DIY guys that really wanna do something on their vehicles but either don't have the time or skills to actually "DIY". Lol. Good luck man

That's to run the OEM LED lights not aftermarket. I'm pretty sure aftermarket ones come with a resistor or they add something to work cuz when you order them they have different ones for trucks "with" or "without" factory LED taillights.

Well, you might still be right, because I got these at a special where they were selling all kinds of things dirt cheap. They're for a 2012+, but knowing that the 2009 - 2015 is usually good, I got them anyway. The difference is likely that the 2009-2011 has a resistor while the others don't. We'll see.

I also got a set of bushwacker flares for $60, also for 2012+, given the $400+ savings, I'll make them work on my '09.. I also got a K&N CAI ($100) for an '03-08. A Hemi is a hemi, I'll make it fit..
