Put my Lockpick in today. Aside from all the crawling around under the truck it really was a plug-and-play install. I took my time since I have a bad back, but an able-bodied person should be able to do this in 3-4 hours. Here's some pics of the highlights.
Rather than run the camera wiring separately I decided to run it inside the sheathing from the tailgate lock wiring I installed just 3 weeks ago. Would have been easier to do both together had I known back then I was getting this add-on.
This is the Bar-Cam mounted in place. The lens angle is adjustable, but not by much.
This is the harness from the electric tailgate actuator.
The harness runs along the driver-side frame rail. It will be zip-tied to the existing wiring harness.
This was the hardest part of my install, squeezing the camera wire into the split-loom harness from the electric tailgate lock already in place. My thumbs are killing me!
All done running the camera cable in the split-loom and secured to the existing wiring harness. Looks factory, eh?
I brought the camera cable in through the accelerator cable grommet by poking a small hole in it. Once I pushed the cable through I resealed it with some clear silicone.
The cab side of the grommet where the cable came through. More silicone just in case.
Removing the console and radio trim is pretty straight forward. If you use something to pry anything off a couple of pieces of tape will help prevent any scratches.
Once you have the shifter trim off grasp the bottom of the radio trim and pull gently. It should come off pretty easily.
Remove the connectors from the backside of the radio trim. No worry as to marking them because each can only fit where it came from. They all have little release tabs that have to be pressed while pulling. Be careful not to scratch anything as it is a bit awkward to get at.
The Lockpick's instructions are actually very good and there's no need for me to cover them here. All connectors fit only where they are supposed to go. There is plenty of room behind the radio trim to mount the Lockpick harness and main module. There is a lot of room under the shifter console, as well. After initializing and firt-run setup, I now have this on my display.
You can turn off the distance markings if you prefer, but it must be done before you close everything up. I like them, though. Not only does the backup cam come on automatically when you put the vehicle in reverse, you can access it at any time from the display screen. You can also switch camera views (in a multi-cam setup) and turn off the camera view with the left side steering wheel control. Haven't tried inputting a destination or watching a DVD while driving yet, but give me a few days.:
