Anyone have experience with aftermarket head unit wiring?

Merry Christmas everyone!

My wife got me this head unit from Amazon for my 2015 SLT

It is a Junsun 2GB + 64GB

She also got me an aftermarket tailgate handle with camera:

Was looking through the wiring diagrams and got a little confused about 1 method of hookup for the aftermarket rear camera.

This shows hooking this pink or brown wire to the camera cable. On the provided harness adapter, this wire is not a pigtail, it hooks into the canbus adapter.

So, would i leave it connected and simply tap into it?

Or, cut it off, and tie the end from the head unit into the camera harness?

There is a second method, pictured here:

I will likely try this one, but was looking for input on the other, wasn't sure if anyone knew of a difference in the 2 methods.

Thanks.

My Uconnect has been very flaky since my cam/lifter job, random shutting off and restarting, not pairing, or saying it's paired for audio, but not playing my files. I'm tired of fighting it.

How does the plug on the camera look ?
You may need a little adapter

I got the same head unit in my '17, absolutely love it

Looks like the same plug for the reverse camera in the kit as the camera that came with the tailgate handle.

The camera wiring loom for the tailgate camera looks nicer, though

Which way did you wire your camera wire to the head unit and in the back?

I had my camera set up with a stand alone display before I got the head unit, so mine was the 4 pin set up

I'm pretty sure it was all plug and play though, I don't think I drew power from the front (I powered mine on from the brake light)

But that was a few years ago now

I will give the install a shot later today and try to document it, maybe do a separate thread on it.

Have you tried contacting Junsun Radio to answer your installation questions?

No, I have not even attempted the install yet.

I will try it out first, while it's apart. The plugs at the rear of the unit only go one way, it's just those 2 methods for the reverse camera that I was curious about.

That's why I'm shooting to take alot of pics, then post up the install.
