I own a 3500 srw with the 6.4
I have never driven a 5.7 in the 1/2 ton configuration. Only the 5.7 in a 2010ish 2500, and that was not to peppy, as expected. But boy let me tell you. I was more impressed than i thought i would be with the 1/2 ton (rental). It did not have the air ride but it rode better than my 2013 F-150 did. The interior was nothing to wag your tail at but it was an SLT so... Ya know. The power was thier for sure. Not as much top end as my 6.4 (strangely) but very powerful off the line to about 60mph. and for thouse that are afraid to beat up their trucks, The break torques ( and donuts) were SUPER easy in this truck. Easier than the 3.5 ecoboost could do it. It was almost like it wanted to do them.LOL.
The 8 speed is flawless. Shifts smooth and fast. I now can say that I HATE the knob shifter thing. It does save space but its....stupid, IMO for a truck. I love how traction control truly can be turned off on the ram's, as where my ford would "kinda" turn it of.
I do wish they sat just a little higher. I felt like the ford had a better aproch angle in the front. The turning radius sees to be pritty good for a truck. Cant compair it to my ford though as it was longer.
If i ever buy a half ton. Its going to be a ram.
