So I bought two bottles of the Gumout Multi-System Tune-Up cans because I heard it was good and better then seafoam. I followed the directions on the bottle and put one complete can in my tank when I filled her up and then ran her all the way to empty. I have the other can because I was thinking about running it through the vacuum line. My question is, the bottle says exactly what I did but their website states I should of done it when doing a oil change. Now I'm nervous since I did it a month or so ago if I'm hurting the engine, any input? Also it doesn't state how much to out through vacuum line, how much do you guys recommend?

No problem, I heard it can help with gas mileage, which really isn't bad for me I just figured what the hell I'll give it a shot. Plus since it says it cleans the engine I figured no harm? But you comment gas me worried now lol

It's ok in the tank once in a while in the right mixture, just like seafoam, but do not put it through your intake via a vacuum line unless you are having a specific problem you think it will fix. Just my advice.

I had never heard of it, but I am also with the other guys when it comes to putting additives into my ol girl. I learned about this product from the Chrisfix guy on youtube.

Let me explain: Running seafoam, or the like, into your intake thru the brake booster vacuum line is very invasive. It will possibly knock things loose that were causing no problems and put them into position to cause you problems. At bare minimum I'd bet you need to change your spark plugs on a 2002 truck after you do it. If you're having a problem with how it runs that could be related to intake valve deposits, then take a shot. Just not recommended to upset a good running engine that way.

I agree with NYCruiser. Now on the other hand, if you were doing this routine since new it wouldn't be a big deal, you'd just be keeping it clean as opposed to trying to get it clean. Make sense?

I fully understand and glad I asked. As mentioned earlier the other bottle will just sit on a shelf till I ever feel I need it.

The reason they say to do this before an oil change is that being very corrosive, the chemicals contained in these products can change the acidity level of the oil and have it break down much sooner than expected. In some case the manufacturer may also provide an anti-acid oil additive to counteract the adverse effect of the product it can have on the oil.

If you are not having any issues with the engine, don't try to fix one...

The best way to improve gas mileage is to keep your foot off the gas pedal... but that doesn't get you going very far does it... LOL
