Yeah, my 2017 Ram got similarly nailed yesterday, I filed a claim. Fortunately my quarter panels and glass were spared, but my hood got hammered. Hail here was between quarter sized and golf ball size, but it lasted at least 10 minutes - I was at work, truck was totally uncovered.

We had a bad one the day before, also, but no damage from that. Yesterday's was brutal though.

Anyone know what a hood replace costs?

I saw Orange sized hail once. Luckily not where I lived, but a golf course out in the country. It had been a few weeks, but there were sand spots all over the greens and fairways where they filled in the holes. The gm had pics of hailstones in his hand. Baseball or orange sized. He tried to get the carts all in their big metal bldg and said the hail started coming thru the roof. He said he hid under his front loader bucket until it stopped. His truck looked like it rolled off a cliff.

That sux op, whats your deductible on your insurance?

So I thought that I had increased my deductible to 1,000 when I bought the truck but it is actually only 500.

The insurance company will pay to fix all of it. He is saying the can replace the hood but will have to pop the other body dents out. As long as you pay your deductible, youll be good. I do recommend reporting it asap so that an adjuster can be assigned to you quickly before everyone else in your area with your carrier calls and you fall down the list. Here in our area a couple weeks ago there was tennis ball sized hail. But yours is pretty damn bad too. Good luck.

I called the insurance a few hours after it happened and I am supposed to have an adjuster come by sometime in the next week. Anyone in my neighborhood who had their vehicle outside at least damaged their hood and roof. Several people did break windshields.

Unfortunately we had our other car in the garage and we couldn't fit both.. I should have swapped them out but by the time I thought of it, it was too late...

That is a pretty good idea... is it a direct fit? Surely someone has done a sport hood swap on here?

We had about 60 seconds of hail not quite that big around this time last summer. Did over $20k worth of damage to my old truck, car, RV, and house roof/gutters. Amazing how much damage hail can do in very little time.

That sucks. We had hail here a few years back that was baseball size. It was devastating. Basically going through roofs past the ceiling into living areas. I had a pond in my back yard and it was quite a sight seeing them splash into the water. And the divits it’s in the soil we’re never ending.

I'm on a 7' garage opening, and I won't go higher than my level, 1.5" body lift, and 35x12.5 tires. I will still have about 2 inches of clearance.

agreed! There are times I'd like the open garage space, but I didn't build the garage as big as it is to keep a vehicle outside.

I'm in a 3 3/4, but I have 2 kids still at home, and a wife. They take up all the extra space.

Hail in late June...wow!

Is that a common sort of thing in Colorado?

In southern Ontario we only get hail in the winter and I've never seen it that big.

Wow, that sucks. Sorry to see that happen. I bet you almost want to cry every time you see it.

(Hail storms. Another reason for leasing vs. buying.)

We had some hail like that last year. My truck took a beating but not quite that many on the hood. The hood was replaced and the estimator thought they would have to replace the roof too. I was not too happy with having the roof replaced since that would involve cutting the old one off, welding a new one on and then painting. As it turned out, the PDR guys were able to fix the roof so I was very happy to still have all factory paint. It cost a bit more but the insurance covered it.

I waited a couple of months before taking it to a shop but they were still so backed up with work it was a couple more months before it got fixed. So I guess the best thing is to go ahead and get in line right away. Hope you are happy with the result.
