Just went to dealer and this was an item on my list. 71k on the clock, dealer says its their discretion to perform the fix; TSB is just a service bulletin for the techs.

Wanted ~$1100. Ill just keep partially inserting it and swap the tank myself if I ever absolutely have to.

You could try to open Star case directly with Ram. They might cover it or some of the it.

have replace 5 fuel tanks for this issue and this TSB i followed through dealership and have yet to have a come back

I have a 2019 and went through this issue recently. Valve on the tank was defective. Dealer replaced the tank. It was under warranty. So far no issues filling the tank. Quite refreshing to fill the tank without all the clicking.

Dealer said they get quite a few trucks with this issue.

Guys, just wanted to add my experience here.

Same problem with a 2020 1500 Laramie. About a year ago, the dreaded stop and click after about $2 worth of gas. Drove me nuts as it was taking forever to try to fill the tank. Tried holding the nozzle different ways, lightly squeezing the trigger, but just kept stopping. Ended up only ever half filled the tank. Read this thread and thought I sure ain't paying for a new tank. About 2 weeks ago I had to do a long journey so spent about 20 minutes filling the tank to the top. Stopped off to put more gas in after a couple of hundred miles and I was getting $6 worth before it clicked. I wondered if it was a different nozzle or flow rate or something but hey $6 is better than $2. I'll take it.

Next fill I was getting $12 before a click. No idea why. Was low today so put $58 in to fill the tank. Went through without a click. Same pump I'd used before with a $2 click.

No idea what happened. Hopefully whatever it was has cleared itself.

Here's what it took to fix mine. Not a gas tank problem, even though that was dealer diagnostic and recommended repair
