HD Tire Pressure Monitoring System Reset

I went to my dealer yesterday and asked for my Pins. They asked for proof that I owned the truck (provided DL and registration) and they printed them off with no hassle.

They gave me two. One is a 4 digit number and the other is 5 digits that starts with a letter and has 4 numbers.

Just took truck new ram 2500 6.4 to dealer (1500 mi. New)and asked them about this. When I bought the truck there was 80 psi in the rear and 72 in the fronts(wayyyy over inflated)I bought it with lift and tires on it with an extended warranty on everything. They are wanting to take off the Toyo open country 37x12.50x20 tires (65psi cold Max)and replace them with Nitto 37x11.50x20 trail grappler m/t s (80psi max pressure) to fix the tps warning lights. what do you guys think about this???

Well that has no bearing on the fix. Save your money and PM 4x4x4door.

Yeah, that won't work, Spector. What tires you have on the truck makes no difference to the TPMS settings in the BCM and RFE hub.

I'm dying to know what dealer did this? Southtown? I've helped Lucas-Smith Dodge change one of their used trucks they sold so I assume it's not them. If you like the current tires then you have 2 choices: have the dealer pay for me to adjust the TPMS settings or you can pay me to do it. If you get the new tires, you could run a pressure that won't set off the warnings. This is difficult to do in the STL with the constantly changing temps. The truck is likely to ride like a log wagon. Of course, I'd love to get my foot in the door with that dealer but the choice is definitely yours. Even at 65 max psi, the truck usually rides like crap when empty because the tires are still over-inflated for the weight. I run 50 front & 40 rear when empty with my 65 max psi tires with great results.

Dang, I just saw that you have a 2018. The ECM is locked and that's were the TPMS settings are located. Keep watching this thread and I'll post when we have a fix.

Negative. FCA removed the ability to update the pressure thresholds from the Witech about a year and a half ago.

I also just got an 18, mc 4wd, awaiting info so i can change my pressures when i drove off the lot almost all were at 80 psi 1 was at 91!!!! I deflated all to 65, dont care about the little tire pressure light i can live w it, but is 65 all around still ok? Got the original tires it came with, says 65 fronts and 80 rears on the door

MaxiTPMS TS508- $300 (Mostly just TPMS/basic scan)
Wired Handheld

MaxiTPMS TS608- $550 (Full TPMS and decent scan tool)
Wireless Tablet

These have been discussed in other forums. Updating the thresholds is step 1 of a 2-step process and there are a couple other devices that will do that step, it's the easy one and you'll still get all the warnings even though your EVIC will show the lower values. What's not easy is updating the RFH (radio frequency hub) and I doubt that either of those will do that. If you have a chance to call them again, ask about the RFH and please report back.

When empty you can easily run 10-15 psi in the rears. A chalk test is the best way to tell proper pressure.

Dayummm really 10-15 psi in rears?
Hmmm, didnt think u could run that low especially on oe tires,

Ive yet to haul anything, not sure when i will, but ill do the chalk test when i get a chance

Oops! That should have said 10-15 psi less in the rears. So 60 front & 50 rear would be a good start.
