I am looking to replace the stock tires on my 2017 2500. They are currently stock LT275/70R18, and I want to upgrade to LT35x12.50R18. I know the recommended PSI in the rear tires is 80, per the door tag, but I can't find a 35 inch tire that has that high of a Max PSI rating. Can the computer be reprogrammed so I won't constantly have a low tire light?

Btw Nitto Ridge Grapplers in that size have a 80psi max rating. Same with Nitto Terra Grappler G2, Toyo MTs. Etc.

Ply rating determines psi, I do believe E will get you 80psi. Look into ply ratings, even popular tires will have different ply ratings available.

Just a cut/paste exerp of rating..

Load Range C (6 ply tire) – maximum load pressure of 50 psi (350kPa) Load Range D (8 ply tire) – maximum load pressure of 65 psi (450kPa) Load Range E (10 ply tire) – maximum load pressure of 80 psi (550kPa) Load Range F (12 ply tire) – maximum load pressure of 95 psi

I’ve been stuck in the same boat as you and I am approaching the need for tires. Currently I’m running toyo mt’s that measure 35.1x11.6x18 (285/75/18)but I want to go to 35x 12.50x18‘s just like you.

Luckily there’s a few tire manufacturers now making load range F tires in that size that meet the load rating you want.

Otherwise you have to go narrower ( lik I currently have) to get that load rating.

I have these

But im going to these next in a load range F

There are also a few all-terrain tires that are load range F in the size if you do not want an MT

Just a sidenote. When you start approaching an aspect ratio of over 70% your Offroad ability is actually better than a wider tire because when you air down your tire contact patch becomes long like a tank track. Wide tires do not do this. As Americans like our wide tires but most of the time tall and skinny will perform better if you have to air down. A wide tire think of some thing like the rear tire on a lawnmower. The contact patch is very wide and the tire slips very easy on the grass. Now think of a tall skinny tractor tire in the same senecio ........ make sense?
I may have just convinced myself to stick with the same tall skinny tire again[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23].

Old guys will get this...
Mid 70's, I had a 72 Camaro, 327, 4-spd Muncie M22, 12 bolt rear with 4.56s. I ran N50-15 tires (12" tread) on some nice Cragar 10" rims. That is until it snowed. Car would not move in the snow. Wide rubber just stayed on top of the snow and they just spun. Out comes the skinny old F/78-14 studded snows. 4" wide, cut through the snow and hooked up like nobody's business! They looked stupid since I had 5" flared quarter panels to clear the N50's. Got me from A to B with no drama. Skinny works.

^I had a '73 Mustand with wide tires. I always said that given 2 strategically placed snow flakes, I was stuck.

I run 275s on my 1500.

Those big tires look cool; to a point. There is certainly a point of "too much of a good thing". Way too big just looks goofy.
