Looking at these for my truck: Moe's Performance LLC Mobile
1) Will they work for my truck?
2) how much will they help in terms of increasing my MPG? 95% of my driving is in the city.
Thanks

I installed new plugs, cai, 180 tstat, and the shorties all with in two weeks. That being said, with the mods listed in my sig, I jumped from 13.5-14 City to 15.6-16.8. Keep in mind I live literally 5 min from work, and never really get stuck in traffic. I cruise most of the time, but punch it when I get the urge.

thats better...IMO you should if you are not stepping on it that much. and compared to the stock manifold the exhaust will exit more smoothly and less restrictive.

I average 10.5 MPG right now (95% city driving) with only 600 miles on the truck and that's with the mods installed in my sig. People have said that will go up to around 13 or 14 at about 2,500 miles but only time will tell. Should I wait until the I get to around 2000-3000 miles before having headers put on?

You have headers on your truck?

If you have the 3.55 gears I would put money on not getting much better than you are in city driving even with mods.

Id wait however many miles it take to do the complete break in (IDK what its is).

I have 3.92's BTW

What are 3.92's and how are they beneficial?

My RAM came with 3.92 gears from the factory. A lower gear gives you better fuel economy (dependent on driving habits), while taller gears "unlock" drive train loss giving you better performance. Ie. guys throwing in 4:10 or 4:56 gears

Interesting. I don't know what gears I have in my truck. Should I consider getting lower gears than I have now from the factory because 95% of my driving is city?

O. I guess I assumed that if guys can throw in higher gears, then I could lower mine for the purpose of better fuel economy. I don't know much about this stuff so sorry if I sound stupid.

I know there has been a couple of threads where guys with 3.92's and 4.10's are getting better in town mpg than the guys with 3.55's. With the "higher"(3.92-4.10) gear ratio it takes less power from the engine to get the truck moving. With "lower" (3.55-3.21) gear ratio it takes more power at a little higher RPM from the engine to get the truck moving. Mind that this is all from guys with the 5 and 6 speed trans and not the 8 speed. Hope that helps a bit and I wouldn't get to excited about milage till you break 10K miles.

Thanks for the info. It makes me sick to see 10 mpg avg on my dash. Haha

I have the 6spd 2WD with 3.55s.
Given that my driving is 95% city, which gears do you guys recommend and how much to get higher gears parts & labor? Worth the money? Will it void my factory warranty? Get new gears or just get a tuner? I'm looking for better shifting and MPGs.

And btw, the service guy at my local dealership told me that headers would void my warranty without thinking twice about it. He said it would void it about a millisecond after I asked the question. So no headers for me.

Not for nothing but I would check to see what gear ratio you have first. Looks like you bought your truck new so I would check your window stick. That will show what gears you have and also if you have a limited slip differential. Then you can move on from there. You may want to consider getting an aftermarket tuner that has a tune in it for better fuel economy. I believe that the Diablo Sport Trinity has that feature, but I am sure there are others. Good luck with your new ride.
