So I called the dealer and they can do an LED or HID conversion for me for about the same price I could do - so of course having them do and warranty it is a no brainier.

Question: which is better LED or HID. The tech said he prefers LED. I'm looking for the most light of course.

I have a 2015 Big Horn with halogen. They wouldn't change the housing.

Thanks!!

What intensity HID would you go with - if it works like that?

HID with 35W ballast at 4300k to 5500k temp is perfect. I ran 55w ballasts for a while, they were to bright. Coming over hills would blind oncoming cars and I got tired of them high beaming me. Not as much with the 35w.

They want $250 plus $75 install. They are Race Sport Led or Hid conversion - after looking around I think I'm gonna hold off - they are about $100 over priced which is typical dealer. I don't mind the $75 install - but they seem generic from google searches. I may call JJ and see what he has that's easy for a novice. My buddy who is mechanically inclined said he'd help one day.

I've never dealt with hids before but I used jj kit on my 09 and I was really easy. Once you get over the shock of the ratsness of wires it's really easy. Just need a proper ground.

Big horn comes with projectors? HID work best in projectors. Make sure the dealer uses the proper relay with resistors or canbus ballasts otherwise you gonna have issues.

HIDs with 55w ballasts and 6000k bulbs in a projector housing. SUPER bright FOCUSED light! The best set-up out there! Well worth the money for safety reasons, let alone they look DAMN good too!

I know this may not be an issue for you since you're sitting way up there in the clouds in your truck, but with this setup how frequently would you be blinding oncoming traffic while running regular beams? I just put OEM projectors in and while it's an improvement over quads, it's still not amazingly bright. Girlfriend has a Lexus with projectors and her light output is absolutely insane. Stock.

I have yet to be flashed by oncoming traffic in the 2 years I've owned HIDs and projectors.

The OEM projectors are OK, the TYC projectors are a tad bit better. Run an HID kit with 55w ballasts and you'll be amazed at the light output!

The oem ram projectors are halogen based so they are not ideal lenses and housings for HID. The Lexus and acura OEM hid is what a lot of aftermarket projectors are based off of because they are so sick. Comes down to clear lenses and engineering I believe. It amazes me they put projectors in but don't have an HID model option.
