I installed the Modifystreet 2019 look headlights this past weekend. I ordered them with the HID low beam/halogen high beam options and replaced the halogen high beams with Katana LED's. The HID low beams were very weak and not much better than halogens so I swapped the Katanas into the low beam position to compare. Light output of the Katanas was at least double the 55w HID's so I ordered a second pair of Katanas today. The Katanas look exactly the same as the Supernova V4 at less than 1/3 the price. Same specs, same housing, same construction. Will they last as long? Who knows but I can replace them 3 times for the cost of one set of V4's.

Those horizontal led cubes come from Ebay? I have a 16 Ram 1500 with verticals. Was it a simple install? Look great by the way!

So after weeks of research, I have decided to try the Katana LED bulbs in my Ram, for my low beams. However, there are two 9005’s that fit on Amazon.

If anyone can help, which one is for the low beam

Thanks 8E89C97E-13AC-4176-8DB5-F12EBD02C738.jpeg

The $48 one's I believe are 12000 lumens where the others are 10000 lumens. I've run the 12000 one's and are brighter than the supper nova v3's that I have in my quads

I've been researching new LEDs for my '18 3500 (Laramie w/projector) replacement bulbs. I've spent a good deal of time on the HR website watching videos and comparing LEDs. Since HR does a ton of research tend to believe them .. Without question they recommend Supernova V.4 (Perfect fit) for the highbeam. Their price is $188 for a pair. If I go direct to the Supernova website it looks like can get the same bulbs for $99 a pair... soooo whats the deal?

Has anyone dealt with HR and are they just adding mark-up?
look at GTR lighting.com

I'm thinking of adding the Katana's to my 2018 2500 Tradesman. I've got the AlphaOBD. Are these Katana's plug and play? Do I need resistors? Since I've got the AlphaOBD, do I just need to turn Headlights to LED? Thanks.

Plug and play. No resistors or canbus adapters needed. I enabled hid (this actually turns pwm off) and enabled led

Thanks for the quick response. In the AlphaOBD, under "Car Confirguration Change", I see the option to change LED low beams to "yes". I don't see anything about the HID?

Was the OP's question answered? Does HR just mark up their price?

If anyone knows, I want to purchase the Katanas 9005 for OEM my low beam projectors.

Will I need a decoder or or they plug and play?

Any assistance is appreciated.

I installed the katanas in my 2018 projectors about a month ago - they were totally plug n play - no added decoders were needed for my instance, although I asked Katana to send me some just in case, which they did.....

Ok. Thank you so much! I’ll place my order today and ask for a decoder just in case.

I just didn’t want to take everything apart and then find out I need a decoder. That would be very disappointing.

That was exactly my logic - and now I am a pro at taking the headlights out.....by the way - it can be done easily “without” removing the grill - it’s the only way I have done it - a guy on this forum posted a video on YouTube detailing “not” removing the grill while removing and reinstalling our headlights - shout with any questions

DO NOT BUY from the "supernova v4" website. They sent the wrong lights, they look nothing like my other supernova v4's and no one answers the phone or email.
