A little tip from the frozen tundra of Southern Michigan. I've seen a few posts about poor heater performance, thermostat choices, etc. I was noticing poor heater performance, even though I was seeing engine temp and had good coolant flow through the heater core. Here's a tip - heater performance is tremendously better, especially during warm-up, by simply turning the heater function knob to the "recirculation" setting. It lets the heater start with cabin temp air instead of the usually much colder outside temp air drawn in thru the cowl - the heater core simply doesn't have to heat the air as far. Same in the summer with the A/C. While if the windows fog, you may have to toggle the function knob to the regular or defrost settings occasionally, but still the overall performance is greatly improved. And granted, being my truck is a 96, that the blend door may be out of adjustment or the seals may have deteriorated causing poor performance, but it's a lot easier to toggle the function knob occasionally instead of pulling the HVAC unit out. If you are having heat issues, it can't hurt to try. Willie
