so, got my hella 700ff's. I'm wondering a few things.

1.the housings should be able to handle the bulbs heat right? don't halogens get hotter then hid's?

2. should I put a 35 or 55 watt kit on? the bulbs are 55w I believe?

3. are these street legal? lol if they are, will they be with hid's?

thanks!

I think the 35w ones run cooler than halogen but I'm not sure. And I think they would not be street legal they aren't legal here in NM

They're not illegal. The only thing a LEO could get you for is failure to dim lights to oncoming traffic

The law in TX says that you can only have 2 driving lights and 2 fogs light on at a time. Dont get caught with 6 lights on while on the road.

35w HID's would be a safe bet as far as heat goes, and are going to be extremely bright.

I got 55W HIDs in all four of my 4in PIAA lights. No issues as of yet. And im pretty sure technically HIDs are illegal in any vehicle that was not installed by the factory. But its only illegal if they will actually pull you over for it. But you will for sure get pulled over if you have 18 HID lights on the front while on road.

I have my 4 PIAA lights looked up to my oem fog light switch, majority of the time I dont use them but otherwise I treat them like high beams.

Did you use fuses and such when you hooked them up to the oem switch? Trying to get ideas for mine

If you go 55, watch out for the cheap brands. They run a 55W ballast with a 35W bulb........not a good combo (runs HOTTER).

I run 35w 6k hid's in hella 500's. Hardly use them at all. They are illegal to run on the road here in IL, and supposed to run covers on them when on the road.

Im thinking about putting 500's in the middle of my light bar, instead of another set of 700's, just to give the front end a little contrast. hmm..
