Hello Nova Scotia, from Maine!

I've been up there a few times. I very much enjoy the beauty of the land and the kindness of the people. My bride and I hope to get up there again some day when my work allows the time off. I might pull my 5th wheel up for a long weekend after the winter.

Remove the heater hoses from the engine and flush in both directions several times or until clear running.

Use our search function to look up Rmi25 , it should help get things cleaner.

As Daw14 mentioned, pull heater core hoses and backflush the heater core until the water runs clear.

RMI-25 is a fantastic solution that many members have had great success with cleaning crud from the coolant system.

Use the search utility in the upper-right corner for tips on flushing and RMI-25.

And, welcome to Ram Forum to both you and @bearbait04 .

Hope this sint a stupid question..but if the outside of the heater core is dirty with debris..would that give me less heat in the cab?

It would reduce air-flow….which MAY increase the temp of the air exiting the core…but not be helpful if the cabin is suffering from low air flow. (Behave similar to having the fan-speed set Low.)

Why Do you suspect your core air-flow is blocked? Do you have a cabin air filter ? Have you replaced it recently?

Here’s a pic of what I found when I changed my wifes cabin-air filter. (mice/rodents love to seek a cozy spot to nest

Yes, but you might notice a reduced air flow if it were seriously clogged.

Before you even consider the fun of changing the heater core, a good back-flushing would be infinitely easier.

We prefer to tackle the easy tasks first and then only escalate to the tedious ones if required.
