U can put additives in, and hopefully he get started. But the crux of the matter is, U need to be preventative on Diesel Fuel, than reactive. He still needs to change out both those filters. IF he changes them out, he needs to pay attention on how to prime also, instead of just throwing filters in there, he also needs to read on how to prime. I go back to the old M35A2's, and we used to push fuel through the systems with bleed off of the air tanks, then open bleeder ports till we ran diesel, than started them old monsters up, dat was always fun at -20F lol. I know them new 6.7's R different, LOL. ALL IMHO ......(very lowly and humble fer sure)

You can put an open flame to raw diesel fuel and it doesn't catch immediately, the OPs idea of using a hair dryer isn't a problem but probably won't do much for the gelling. Your attempt to be snarky was ill fated.
Hee hee, U all be nice. When I ran a gas station, the fuel delivery guy taught me about Gas/Diesel and different reactions to flash points. My concern is, he start heating on there with a heat gun and get some vapors, then uh oh. In Cuba, we threw gas/diesel mixed or diesel to burn out elephant gas. Took forever to ignite if wet, let sit a few minutes and get some fumes, Varoom, nice lil light show. OMG, did the Navy Fire guys get upset, lmao.

I never heard of Hot Shot Secret until I started reading Diesel forums, when I was driving OTR we only used Howes or Power Service winter formula and to this day I will only use one of these two in my personal truck, they never failed in the semi I drove at -36 below zero....

Please excuse my ignorance, but on light duty diesel pickup trucks, aren't the fuel lines heated in some manner? When GM introduced diesels in their full size cars years ago, one of the major upgrades was the installation of a electric heat tape material that kept the lines warm.

Heat Lamps are a great source of controlled heat
I use this kind of fixture for working under the hood of a vehicle, just switch the type of bulbs
