I am new here my names chris, I have a 2006 dodge ram 2500 with a hemi, its a quad cab short bed big horn edition, its silver. I bought it about 2 years ago with 64xxx miles one owner, its a great truck I bought it because I needed a heavy duty truck to haul my camper to North Dakota, in the first year I put over forty thousand miles on it going from north Dakota to Spokane every 6 weeks. Any way it has a leveling kit and 35 in toyo mts. I say its a great truck I believe that I have had a lot of issues with the front end and the transmission, the front end went out at 84xxx in the middle of winter, it got so bad before I knew anything was wrong, it cost me 3 grand to fix, some tie rods, both side wheel bearings, both side upper and lower ball joints, cv axel u joints, and steering stablyzer, and a bent rear drive line<no clue how this happened. I bought it with an extended worranty which went all the way to a little over a 100xxx miles but since I was in the middle of north Dakota I couldn't use it. anyway that's a little back story to the truck sorry for how long this post is. the transmission issue started at about 105xxx milesand to be honest it was my own fault it went out I take this thing four wheeling ALOT, she is an absolute beast until the tranny went out completely on the backside of a mountain where I had to cell service and a truck full of friends, we had to walk to the nearest gas station 14 miles away at about 10 pm. so I am only 24 and have yet to be smart enough to have a "EMERGENCY" cash savings. I could not afford a 2200 dollar rebuild. Me and a friend of mine decided we would get a "certified junk yard special" for about 400 bucks, came with a tq converter a 30 day warrantyand had a little over 90xxx miles on it. now I am not a mechanic but I can pretty much figure everything out on this truck, always did the oil and filter every three thousand and the tranny/diffs every 8-10, I use this truck very hard. I was un aware of this transmission "relearning" I have heard some of your guys on here talk about, so maybe this is my issue with the new transmission. at about 114xxx I was at a fast food drive through that had a line of cars, so I tossed it in park, as soon as I did all of my gear indicator boxes on my dash all lit up at the same time and the check engine light came on, I turned it off and it wouldn't start so I tried again and it started but the boxes were still all lit up. when I pulled off it was lagging power real bad so it leads me to believe its stuck in 3rd gear maybe 2nd, as soon as I get passed 20 mph its normal and has all the normal power, but it wont shift up or down and I can barely do 55 mph. now I have done enough research and talked to a mechanic and I think I need to replace my silonoid pack???? and since I still have my old transmission can I just use the pack out of that and then just have my transmission "relearned" or what ever u call it?? to be more clear my other transmission didn't do this when it went out all of a sudden it just made a weird slightly grinding wiiiiiinnnng noise, so its possible I could save the coin and use this silonoid pack??? it seems easy enough to do in my drive way? I just need some suggestions. thank you and sorry for the book.

Are you throwing codes? You should be throwing a p0700 for sure but are you also throwing a p0734 or 735? I had a similar problem with my stock trans an it was a solenoid pack like you mentioned so you could swap them an see. How long has this trans been in?

Everyonce in awhile the check engine will come on and I'll go check it at the parts store and it's always this "left bank lean cat 1 " something like that but then it will go away it shows up for a day then gone for a month or so. The exhaust is all jacked up has holes in it. When I dropped the first tranny I cut the exhaust in half seemed to be the only way the exhausted has to be off the exhaust manifold and out of the way for the tranny to come completely out so when I put it back together I did a horrible weld job and I think an 02 sensor got damaged or is about to go out. However when I went to see what the code was it had nothing about the tranny what so ever just pulled up the code I just explained. I was using a cheap reader at shucks so idk maybe it's worth a shot at going to a tranny shop to see if they can run a more extensive check ? And it went out at 105xxx the truck has 115xxx on the junk yard special before anything weird happened. So I ran it for 10 thousand miles.

I am just going off what I have read and YouTube videos. Also a mechanic has told me what he thought after driving it. I just had a kid so I am trying to spend as little as possible. I just did the whole from end not long ago now the tranny and a whole new exhaust system got ordered.

If you look up the key trick you should be able to pull codes off the dash. I'm not sure of the protocol for it as I use my superchips to read my codes. Could be 02 related possibly but just giving ideas.

I know I'm late to this, but did you get anything fixed on it? My trans went out about 2 months ago and dished out 3G's for a complete rebuild - it ended up being my TQ. The TQ was in pieces inside of itself and my clutches were toast. The guy I took it to said when they do rebuilds they always put brand new electronics in it because they had failures in ones they didn't.
