I am new here my names chris, I have a 2006 dodge ram 2500 with a hemi, its a quad cab short bed big horn edition, its silver. I bought it about 2 years ago with 64xxx miles one owner, its a great truck I bought it because I needed a heavy duty truck to haul my camper to North Dakota, in the first year I put over forty thousand miles on it going from north Dakota to Spokane every 6 weeks. Any way it has a leveling kit and 35 in toyo mts. I say its a great truck I believe that I have had a lot of issues with the front end and the transmission, the front end went out at 84xxx in the middle of winter, it got so bad before I knew anything was wrong, it cost me 3 grand to fix, some tie rods, both side wheel bearings, both side upper and lower ball joints, cv axel u joints, and steering stablyzer, and a bent rear drive line<no clue how this happened. I bought it with an extended worranty which went all the way to a little over a 100xxx miles but since I was in the middle of north Dakota I couldn't use it. anyway that's a little back story to the truck sorry for how long this post is. the transmission issue started at about 105xxx milesand to be honest it was my own fault it went out I take this thing four wheeling ALOT, she is an absolute beast until the tranny went out completely on the backside of a mountain where I had to cell service and a truck full of friends, we had to walk to the nearest gas station 14 miles away at about 10 pm. so I am only 24 and have yet to be smart enough to have a "EMERGENCY" cash savings. I could not afford a 2200 dollar rebuild. Me and a friend of mine decided we would get a "certified junk yard special" for about 400 bucks, came with a tq converter a 30 day warrantyand had a little over 90xxx miles on it. now I am not a mechanic but I can pretty much figure everything out on this truck, always did the oil and filter every three thousand and the tranny/diffs every 8-10, I use this truck very hard. I was un aware of this transmission "relearning" I have heard some of your guys on here talk about, so maybe this is my issue with the new transmission. at about 114xxx I was at a fast food drive through that had a line of cars, so I tossed it in park, as soon as I did all of my gear indicator boxes on my dash all lit up at the same time and the check engine light came on, I turned it off and it wouldn't start so I tried again and it started but the boxes were still all lit up. when I pulled off it was lagging power real bad so it leads me to believe its stuck in 3rd gear maybe 2nd, as soon as I get passed 20 mph its normal and has all the normal power, but it wont shift up or down and I can barely do 55 mph. now I have done enough research and talked to a mechanic and I think I need to replace my silonoid pack???? and since I still have my old transmission can I just use the pack out of that and then just have my transmission "relearned" or what ever u call it?? to be more clear my other transmission didn't do this when it went out all of a sudden it just made a weird slightly grinding wiiiiiinnnng noise, so its possible I could save the coin and use this silonoid pack??? it seems easy enough to do in my drive way? I just need some suggestions. thank you and sorry for the book.
