i have the 14' Ram Blackout with the Projector Headlamps and i was looking in to switching to HID bulbs but i am having some trouble with picking the right bulb (i know the size of what i was told is 9012). i just dont want to be spending an arm and a leg on bulbs. does anyone have any recommendations on HID kits that are fairly decent that arent crazy expensive? :word:

Whatever you do, go with Canbus ballasts. You will not have any issues if you use these!
Plus, everything fits in the headlight so it's plug and play. I have the same truck you do.....

I believe I went with the 9006 bulb. I had to trim the base a tad for it to fit right. I don't remember TBH exactly what I used.

you were able to use 9006 size bulbs and the connections still fit? thats the only problem i dont know what the connector looks like to kind of play around with different bulbs without taking the whole front end off

If you cannot find the HIR2 cheap then use 9006. Just tossed them in mine, all you gotta do is clip the right side tab a little bit. Should be able to find the youtube video online.

I use and install alot of kits from vvme.com, never had an issue with these! Just make sure you get canbus ballasts

Do the ballasts not get really hot? Have you had an issue putting them inside the headlight?

For what it's worth...I mounted my ballast and canbus cancelers in the side of the engine compartment to the inner fenders........they need ventilation or in time they will cause you issues. I'll take a picture tomorrow and post it. You should not seal them in a confined spot, these get very very hot.

I bought the relay harness for mine...but after seeing that it did no good without the canbus resistors I never installed it...the resistor/cancelers do the job. BUT again make sure they have air flow. I've been a certified master tech for almost 20 years and even with all the changes in technology one thing remains constant....electrical components don't like heat ! I mounted mind to the inside of the fenderwalls near the core support ...some companies even suggest putting them on a heat sink while other actual provide a heat sink....they do this for a reason.
