I recently purchased those kickers for my front dash replacement based on just this thread. They are shipped and should be here tomorrow. But I had to order them from amazon and based on a youtube instruction, I ordered the proper harness adapter for them. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Express and the other day when I read this thread I zoomed to Crutchfield to see my choices... there were none for my year, make and model. I chatted with a crutchfield rep asking why. He stated that each vehicle is analyzed and they just haven't got to any of the 2014 Ram yet. I do see today they have the quad 2014 as a choice. So they are working on it. But a bit disappointing they still don't have mine. Why am I writing this? I wanted to see what my choices are for replacing the 6x9 door speakers. Once again, I don't want any modification and just plug and play (w/ harness). I assume the 2013 would be about the same... but remember I have the Express. Just a 2 door short cab. Can anyone tell me if the door speakers are the same for all late model RAM. Can you make suggestions to replace? Thanks...

Be careful when ordering 6x9's. I'd say go ahead with whatever you order and get no only the plug and play but spacers too. My alpine 6x9 type R's just barely fit and there aren't a lot of 6x9's out there much shallower.

Are these Kicker's? Assuming from the part number, but the website gives absolutely no details or specs. I realize these claim to be "premium". But in your opinion (or anyone else), are these really good? I don't wish to spend nearly $100 on a pair of premium speakers that are just so.. so... If I am gonna invest, I'd want the bang for my buck. I was hoping for a bit more detail of why you recommend...

Looking at Graygoose's recommended speaker url/link, I glanced at the installation instructions. Apparently you have to remove the whole door cover to access the speakers. Yikes. But are you saying that many of the 6x9 are too small (because you recommend spacers). not sure I follow your suggestion or what the issue is with "other" 6x9 speakers.

I received my dash Kickers yesterday. But Amazon shipped the adapters differently and they won't be here until tomorrow or the next day (USPS is the pits). So I can't install them yet. I am anxious to hear these puppies cause if they satisfy my tastes, I'll go with Kickers for the door replacement.

Again, thanks everyone for your assistance and sorry to the OP for high-jacking the thread. But hopefully others can easily find this thread and learn of these easy audio upgrades.

The Kicker Mopars are almost identical in sounds as the Kicker KS693, but the Mopars are made to be a direct plug and play, no adapters, no spacers, and no door panel buldge.

Just for your info some of your forum buddies are running the 2ohm 3.5's with no problems.

http://www.ramforum.com/f51/input_needed-46494/

If I hadn't already bought some JL 3.5's I would get one of these infinitys

Infinity 3-1/2" Speakers - Infinity 3-1/2" Speakers

Just throwing this out there. I replaced the front speakers in my 06 BMW with some 2ohm Infinity speakers. Knowing what I know I should have not done this. Yes of course it will work and make a lot of sound because of the more current draw on the amplifier. But it also makes the output on the amp hotter because of the higher current draw, which kills components of an amplifier. So, long story short. I finally replaced all my speakers in the car and slapped on a 1200 watt rockford on them. They were loud, but I noticed my rear speakers were more crisp and louder than the front. This was because I didnt have a 2ohm load on my rear speakers like I did for the front speakers on the factory amp for a good period of time. So, that 2ohm load slightly diminished the clarity of my front speaker signal, which was more distinct when I put a amp on all the speakers.
I hope this helps if someone decides to get speakers that are the correct impedance for their system. You get maximum current flow when the impedance is matched.

Finally got them today. What a huge difference in the sound and the size.

I don't think I will do the front door. To my ears that sounds just right

Hey no problems at all with making additional comments! Trust me I'm always adding additional comments. Most 6X9's are too deep, meaning that the magnets are too far away from the mounting bracket to go into the mounting hole. In other words the mounting depth is too great. I did find one little secret with the Alpine's the other day though. The problem with them is the connectors. If you bend them away from the magnet, directly down they clear the bracket inside the door. Beware though the connectors are easily broken and will need resoldering if you break it.
