^^ Interesting shot, 22HEMI, 106522 miles divided by 3122 driving miles = 34.1 MPH average. Plus 31% idle time. And No hemi tick so far.
No ticks. I haven’t replace any manifold....I have a feeling it may have been done once cause the oil dipstick is not connected to manifold anymore.. thinking they did some work. She purrs like a kitten

2016 Longhorn - I drive about 20K miles per year. Mix of highway and city. Going to change oil today. I use Red Line 5W30 and RP filter. Change at 10K mile intervals.

Interesting that the oil monitor didn’t make 10K this time. More idling since I use remote start sometimes in the winter morning.

6% idle time

No ticks, runs, drips or errors... :)

I have about 35k on my 2016 Ram 2500 6.4. I get ticking for about 30 seconds to a minute every morning on a cold start. Dealer says it’s normal. Something to be worried about?

^^^I have a 2018 2500 6.4. Neighbor has 2017 same. We both had first start morning valve train noise for 2-5 seconds. At 1000 miles we changed the oil to PUP. 2 qrts 5-30. 5 qrts 0-40. Have never had that again. We did not want what we felt was a dry lube start.

I've had vehicles over the years that had a lifter or 2 bleed down overnight & tap for a few seconds at startup. It can't be good to have your valve train hammering itself like that. If a change in oil type or weight helps then that's a good thing.

Modern Hemis are not quiet, I'm not talking about exhaust. These modern power plants, seem noisy to this old school guy. My ford 08 F150 5.4 drove me crazy, between the three manifod replacements from leaks, and the phasers , and 6 ft timing chain slap, valve tensioners, drove me insane. Traded it for my currant 6.4. when it had 120k. Someome is still reporting car fax maintenance ,and to this day, I get notifications from them, why I do not know . But the current owner is at 175K, miles with routine Maint. He must be Deaf, or ignorant, or lucky. Edit: maybe i was paraniod!
As far as valve train noises go I don't think most people really give a ****, sadly. I think most people just put gas in their vehicles, drive them and when the check engine light comes on they worry about it then. They perform(have someone else perform actually) maintenance when the vehicle or the book tells them too which would probably border on stretching things out too far in my book. I truly believe that Redline/RP filter combo is the best thing out there and even I wouldn't stretch the OCI to the point where the OLM had to tell me to do it.

I had the exact same issue. Ended up being broken manifold bolts. I would take the time to run it by another dealer for a second opinion. Mine got fixed and she’s not ticking anymore.

It just spins onto the regular filter location then the OUT on that goes to the IN on the new filter inlet and the IN on the regular filter location goes to the OUT on the new filter inlet

Thread sealant on the fittings into the aluminum filter units as shown is a must but not on the AN fittings (blue to black) those are just tightened up preferably using an AN wrench if possible or adjustable works but will scratch the fittings

Also a different filter is needed for this as the OEM threads on the engine block housing side are different than the new filter location 1731a4f1156074bf2f8d9d161ac92270.jpgdbb299db7c94a5607a6a0c59edc04957.jpg8fc257e7c2298094ab423a544735648e.jpgb673ef9f01ae2f9180cc3cf217b120ef.jpg4324983283eb8805deb60a04eccf060a.jpg

Not to hijack my own thread but what the hell, it's my thread, can you post a link to the parts you used? I want to relocate my filter. Does your setup allow you to use a larger filter, the stock one is about the size of a riding mower filter?

Transdapt 1127... but for all my lines I used braided hose and -10 AN fittings... as for filter yes you can use a much larger one...for mine I use a napa gold 1515

I have to drop out of this thread now that I sold the high miler. The older large oil filters still fit on the new truck in the factory location. The part crossed over at the dealer based on vin and I've tried it with success on a couple 2017 hemis.

If you use a synthetic filter and synthetic oil with about a 6000 mile oci, which is what I follow, the smaller filter is more than fine. Now, if you have done an oil analysis and the results show the filter isn't doing the job, then relocate the filter so you can add a larger filter. Of course, this is my opinion as I am not even remotely close to being an expert.

My reason for wanting to relocate is easier filter change. The larger filter would just be a plus. I do use the fram ultra filter and quaker state ultimate durability synthetic at about 6k miles oci for the record
