Home made transfer pump

[Wild one]

This is my version of a weed sprayer transfer pump.Most video's showing how to build one go a bit crazy with adding a ball valve.I just re-used the trigger shut off valve,and i made up a couple differant brass ends to fit differant applications.I just remove the straight end,and install one of the brass ends as needed,or just use the clear vinyl hose as a last resort.

That's about all I did. I cut the nozzle off of the end of the wand. The OEM trigger valve seems to work well enough.

I built mine back when i had to replace the 8 speed in my truck,and that's just over 6 years ago,lol.I just stumbled on the pics i took of it back then today,when photobucket told me they were deleting my account,lol

Also, those can be used to "power bleed" your trailer brakes. Did it on my last boat trailer that had a MC and 4 wheel discs (this one is E0H). Just need a 2nd MC cover and drill / tap it to fit a hose on it.

Same reason people buy 3D printers for $300 or $3000 or $300,000 plus filement or resin. Then print something they can buy at walmart for $.50

I guess some just like pumping it up and filling, without the constant pumping. Plus the pump up sprayer can be had for around $20, so not a huge increase in cost.

Tell you what,go pump a gallon of fluid into a transmission with a slippery pete,then come back and tell us how well it worked,lol. A slippery pete sucks to use when you're under a truck holding the end of it in a hole with one hand,and using the other hand to pump with,especially if you're in a hurry to get it done while the trucks running and you have a small time frame before you're past the temperature window.
Trust me,this blows a slippery pete into the weeds,and is far less messy to use,as i've yet to use a slippery pete that didn't leak all over my hands when pumping.
When you're done pumping 5 bottles into the transmission with a pete,come back and tell us how your arm feels,lol
I've seen small 1 gallon weed sprayers on sale in the off season for the same price as a slippery pete

I used a Slippery pete once for a differential. Guess that's not much fluid.

Only thing I can add is suggesting using a 2 gallon sprayer. Just dump 6 quarts in and you’ll have no need to stop and refill.

Pumping gear lube into Mercruiser sterndrives made me hate them Slippery Pete pumps, especially when the bottle gets close to empty and won't stay put while pumping.
