Got it figured out.
Thank you so much for your instructions, I installed my aftermarket yesterday and got video in the larger screen too! My image is kind of shaky and grainy though, as if the connection isn't very good. I cut the factory wires and soldered in the new RCA wire, so I know that portion is solid.

Is your connection on your aftermarket radio of good quality? I'm wondering if perhaps I got a very low quality RCA cable and that is why the signal is sloppy, or maybe its because the diesel engine is causing interference... I don't know.

Thanks!

Does anyone have pics of this process on both ends. Behind the stereo and at the camera harness

Got it figured out. I had factory back up camera screen in rear view mirror and wanted it to display on both the mirror and aftermarket stereo screen. Installed a Pioneer Avic 5000.

On the passenger side you need to pop off the side dash panel . Right inside the panel you will find the mirror harness.

I spliced into the harness with a RCA cable

Center pin of RCA to Green Wire with brown stripe

Shield or outer band of RCA plug to green wire with orange stripe.

This is on a 2014 Express that had the entry level stereo.

Now when in reverse both screens display. Much easier to see trailer hitch on the large screen.
Did you have to separately wire the aftermarket radio to the reverse light so the radio switches automatically or did this accomplish both.

I recently installed seicane s190 android radio in my 14 ram 1500. Does anyone know how I can hook up the factory backup camera. I had the ra2 5.0 radio with the display on the radio. I have read somewhere but can find it again that the header wiring on the right side dash has the wiring for mirror dispay for the ra1. Can I tap into that and run aan RCA cable to make my camera work

Thanks for any info

Is there somewhere else you can splice into. I chechecthe connector on the right side of dash and I don't have the wires in it that is needed. I had the RA2 and display on radio.

Thanks

I think I remember reading that someone makes an adapter that connects to the harness and gives you an RCA connector.

My pac harness does not have an rca plug for a camera. But my alpine radio does. Does the factory radio not use an rca for the camera?

I believe the factory camera has a different end on it. Most aftermarket radios and cameras use RCAs.

It does not....I replaced my tailgate handle with one on Amazon. They seem to be having some issues with the trim ring showing though but I fixed it myself even though the company was very willing to help. This one has a standard yellow S video connector to go to an aftermarket head unit easily.

Master Tailgaters Dodge Ram 2009-2017 Black Tailgate Backup Reverse Handle with Camera https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DCK3GSC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8Z2aBbQZ34XDJ

I trimmed the camera housing to make the camera sit out farther and it's fine now. Here are a few pics of original image then modified...

The camera has guidelines built in but you just clip a white wire and you can use/align the lines on your Alpine.

This is the only product I've seen that uses the factory camera location and I'm happy with it now.f3be51b3689a431f3466c4174d115961.jpg0d0d3072a175a9a1188e2591dd2ec8bd.jpge71c30bc0034b12582ac84e83e20b057.jpg

What kind of RCA cable did you use? Did you use a backup camera RCA? If so, where did you attach the red power wire? Or did you use a normal RCA? I am doing this as well. I have entry level also with a Pioneer HU. TIA

I know this thread is a lot older, but I am just finding it as I want to get this done but have a couple of questions. 1: does it have to be a backup camera RCA with the red power wire? 2: does it have need to be just a normal RCA? I have both. Also, on back of HU I would just connect to the backup camera RCA slot correct? TIA for the answers
